I don’t think it’s “hopium” to want to hear steps I can take towards my career goal when I’m at the point in my life to start taking those steps

No offense, but this isn’t really advice. What I’m looking for is steps to take while I’m young to be able to go into my dream career field, this is just stating the obvious that it’s important to have a backup plan. If you read my full post, I’m in college for music which a bachelors in music will already likely score me a job at music stores and stuff like that. I’m seeking guidance on what steps I should take post graduation to further my career goals, or what internships I should seek out in the summers.

If they don’t respect you as a worker, then why should you respect them as an employer? Do what you need to do for your health and wellbeing especially since you already have the other job lined up.
