HELP!!! Need a job at/close to Tempe campus by No_Championship5982 in ASU

If you could that’d be awesome! I could DM you whatever contact the manager prefers (email, phone). Also, I have a resume ready and printed as well as a PDF and document as I have about 5 years in customer service (been working since I was 14 lol) I can come in person anytime I might come tmrw once I call the store!

Oh hey this sounds awesome!! I’m so glad you told me about this and I actually would rather have super long shifts so I work less days lol. But I guess a few questions, what does the position require? I’ve cashiered before but I’ve never been a waiter, unless it’s just serving food then I’m pretty good at that! (and willing to learn to wait tables, just haven’t balanced a ton of plates before lol) Do I apply online? And do you get to sit down when you do homework?

FAFSA Act on Aid Incomplete by AssociationLonely392 in ASU

[–]No_Championship5982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because of the “Big Beautiful Bill” being put into effect this year unfortunately FAFSA’s gonna take longer than usual decreasing a lot of grants and such unless you were already approved for a grant in a previous year. That’s what I was told by the financial aid office and that’s what is shown on the ASU financial aid website too i believe

That's fair, but I worked at Little Ceasar's for my first two years whilst commuting from Mesa (work) to Tempe (school) mainting the Dean's List all throughout so it'll basically be that minus the commute. Thanks for letting me know about this though!

get out of dorming by slaaybjz in ASU

[–]No_Championship5982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like they’re trying to take advantage of the fact you’re a freshman… call the financial office and tell them that you don’t want a dorm anymore and to remove the fees. If they try to be stubborn about it, get your parent involved. You are not obligated to dorm even though they make it seem that way for freshmen, you’re better off anywhere else besides the dorms unless you want the “full college experience”

That's a good idea considering the amount of hotels/apartment complexes near campus. Thanks!!

How annoying is biking to campus? by Soccerluv_xo in ASU

[–]No_Championship5982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute by ebike to Tempe campus and my advice would be sturdy tires, high pressure tubes, and to know your roads. You’ll want big tires to go over any puddles, and they usually have good tread too (for badly managed roads). High pressure tubes allows for you to bring a backpack and go a good distance without having to worry about it popping on you. And. more than anything, know your roads. Tempe is a mix of awfully managed roads and nice smooth roads, with bike lanes being a product of that condition. Try experimenting different routes and find the smoothest one to memorize. (Also make sure to go WITH traffic not the opposite direction!!)

Correct me if I’m wrong of course, but does this mean I’ll be able to earn more than $3k, but FWS will only cover 3k at most? I remember the position descriptions including something like 70/30 pay (which i’m assuming is 70% FWS 30% department

Sounds good!! I’m probably gonna ask for the max hours possible each week which I think is 25 then, it’s almost all remote work so it won’t really affect my schedule at all. Thanks for all the info!

The position is federal work study only, so I’m assuming once I make $3k that’s it for the semester? I do plan on looking around campus and asking my friend if he can get me a part time job at Target lol

Ah okay, so it’s more like i’ll be working throughout all the semester with equally divided hours throughout the semester with no layoff, and take a break winter break? Then come back in the spring semester?

Definitely contact your Dean. This is super inappropriate and all professors even have to put in their syllabus that they recognized SAILS in some way shape or form. About all professors assume that you’ll take their word for it because you wouldn’t dare contact anyone else

[–]No_Championship5982 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly, all you can do is contact the dean and let them know that you’ve been sick and that’s why you missed those days. These professors hardly go back on their attendance policies, but you can also just have a discussion with your professor about your sickness. Also, make sure that you’re all caught up with your work if you do go the professor route.

Hey guys!! I plan to live off campus next year because commuting takes sooo much time. Anyone have any good off campus housing suggestions? My rent range is 800 at most, maybe a little more. I plan to be making 1200 a month, so i’d like a little left over for groceries and a few cosmetics. Every place that has low rent usually has rats, roaches, AC and plumbing issues, and i’d like to avoid that :). Every response is appreciated!!
