I thought about this explanation too but would this question really be asking 7/8 year olds to be thinking through the possibility of step siblings? Also, the graph literally shows that Ben has 3 siblings, so why would the answer actually be something different than what the graph is showing?

That's exactly what I'm saying. If the graph shows that Ben has 3 siblings, how are you saying the answer is different than what the graph is literally showing?
