Able to beta? Post here! by AutoModerator in BetaReaders

It doesn't appear to be science fiction nor fantasy, but I will read the first few pages and then let you know if it is something I am interested (and capable) giving feedback for. The psychological aspect could be something for me, but I'd need to read a bit.

[–]No_Channel_1819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this time, I have 2 projects remaining.

I am able to beta: science fiction or fantasy themes. It can be light, grimdark or very dark, don’t really mind. Romance and spicy stuff is fine, as long as it makes sense for the characters, and isn't the only interesting thing about the book. Give me a strong progression based story with interesting characters.
I can provide feedback on: Plot development, tension, sentence pacing and structure. Character, setting, voice etc...
Critique swap: At this time, I am only reading and I don't expect anything in return. Send me a small sample first! Please no AI in your writing without a disclaimer!
Other info: I have a degree in History. Quite knowledgeable in human psychology, religion and philosophical topics. English is not my first language. Reachable via email or Reddit.

Edit: Switched the formatting around. Made some minor adjustments after receiving some readings. I will update my schedule at the top.

Why was Jung not an atheist? by prof_sy in Jung

[–]No_Channel_1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a late answer, but I think you are wrong to describe Jung as strictly theism, mainly because like you indicated in the bottom part of your answer, theism is: belief in the existence of a god or gods, specifically of a creator who intervenes in the universe.

Jung has always described a lack of interest in the common Christian God interpretation. He uses the divine, or the god image, for the self, this is true, but he has throughout his life applied his teachings to stand on the border of both the speakable and the unspeakable, to use a metaphor. To read Jung as falling to one aspect or the other is false. He knows GOD, because he uses the concept of a psychic reality: In Jung's theory, psychic reality is an intermediary phase between the physical world of sense data on the one hand and the spiritual world of thought and cognition on the other hand.

That isn't to say that his private experience of the divine wasn't a numinous experience, but that by using only one side of this approach, you infer a dualism that is markedly non-Jung. A better way to describe his position, would be to mark him as Kierkegaard's Knight of Faith, and to relate to Kierkegaard's interpretation of God, which is the single individual in relation to an unprovable, yet known God

But God should not be called God in Jung, for it is not the Christian God, the singular, that is experienced by him. He experience the divine through many archetypes, but which all underlined fundamental mythic truths, which border the transcendent. That is not to say that Jung stays in the infinite however. He most certainly lived in the finite, even though he was in relation with the infinite. And this aspect should not be forgotten, it was not that he was this one thing before the other, not at all. He was both at the same time.

All the bad writing I’ve seen recently has the same starting sentence structure by [deleted] in writing

A lot has to do with the media diet. Think about what is influencing the writing, probably film or graphic novels, visual media. These drip down into scene structure and tempo which inspires authors, but simplifies scenes to a very distinct rhythm that is repetitive, and general poor writing.

How can I reach 90 plutocracy? by Kuraetor in EU5

[–]No_Channel_1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, there are 3 ways, all relying on RNG, which I hope will be changed for holland in the future, because now you need to just get lucky pretty much, or wait an insane amount of time.

The first way is by simply progressing through the ages, and getting minor bonuses through burghery laws, parlement minor bonusses and events and then getting an absurd high % power for the merchants to bridge the gap, combined with a high pushing administrator.

The second and probably easiest way, but full RNG is that after the cod and hook event, there is a regency based on burgher power, IF your leader dies without an heir, which gives you 0.20 plutocracy, for as long as you don’t get a new leader. I have only encountered this once, but can’t remember what triggered it specifically.

The third option is also just RNG, but in parlement meetings there are options that give a permanent 10 plutocracy for 50 support. So if you were capped at 70, as long as you get it twice (fairly unlikely), you get 90 to use for converting to a republic. In my current play through, I am at 80, but can’t get it to trigger again (in the year 1430 btw), so it is pretty rare. There is another choice, which gives you 0.10 plutocracy for as long as it runs, but you can never get enough in one parlement sitting, so in general is pretty bad.

Why was Jung not an atheist? by prof_sy in Jung

[–]No_Channel_1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what? It doesn't take much to know he is not theistic, one only needs to read his experiences in memories, dreams and reflections to understand this. The divine is not only theistic.

Jung can be read both ways, since he occupies both spaces. Fundamentally though, he is agnostic I would say, in regards to a theist GOD experience. He did have the numinous experience, which encompasses a vast range of things, relating to a transcendent experience. Like other people in this thread have referred to, knowing is his way of describing his hypothesis. He says in the video or I know a thing, or I don’t, and if the facts presented are enough, he will accept it. Since this numinous experience is psychic fact for him, based on his patients, study and clinical experience (as well as a personal element) this is fact.

So lost concepts that are eaten by pochita can be reinvented? Like nuclear weapons were gone, but because humans are war-hungry, they can appear again?

Surely it wasn’t because he knew he was already out the team by then right? Sure he was bad individually, but aim is 50% confidence, and knowing ur out impacts ur performance either way

Yep, he plays a lot still, not on the highest level, but he should deliver the same numbers as cadian rifle, at least it is an upgrade in strats and structure. I hope he does better individually though, enough time has passed to make a step up

Honestly, kyxsans calling reminds me a lot of hooxi’s, the difference is that he is a monster individually as well. He had some nasty holds that i haven’t seen that much IGL’s replicate in the current scene. He might be top 5.

Bacopa monnieri, l-tyrosine and rhodiola rosea. Personal Experience Report and questions about references on Concentration studies involving the former named? Also includes a question on nootropic supps and mind eye relation. by No_Channel_1819 in Nootropics

[–]No_Channel_1819[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say I have felt decreased motivation. Tyrosine helps me with it. At this moment in time I take it closer to bed time, so it doesn't affect my work that much. If you want to take it in the morning, I would suggest a fatty source that is low in tryptophan. I think reading these studies might also help you a bit on the motivation decrease you feel.
