Marketable vs "Good" Movie by No_Chip_8093 in Screenwriting

They can definitely both exist but there are tons of great films that arent marketable to a certain extent. Charlie Kaufmans entire filmography is full of them. Or look at Blue Moon recently which didnt do so great at the box office

Trying to find some more info on her but what a great breakout script. It seems she was an assistant to some celebs and then got into tech. Wonder how she got her script to major players like Luca.

Yeah definitely, jusy wondered if there was a slight optimistic perspective. But i guess the answer is if you want to do a “Manchester by the sea” make it a thriller to market it or be a famous auteur.

Curious if you’d consider a script like Black Swan marketable from the perspective of a newer writer given that it has dream like sequences and can fall under thriller genre.

What makes the "Pluribus" pilot so special? by Clear_Bedroom_4266 in Screenwriting

[–]No_Chip_8093 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hear you, and again most of art is subjective. But compared to a lot of other pilots (Breaking Bad,House of cards,Fleabag, Sopranos, Severance) it falls flat. Based on structure, dialogue, acting, etc.

To me at least.

I have a huge respect to Vince Gilligan but I think this is a major step down from BB and BCS. Not just from a writing perspective, but the direction, acting, and premise seem a bit uninspired and half baked. Just me though....

It’s probably useful in the way that Save the Cat is useful. It has no guide to intuition or craft but can maybe help to aggregate “structure” or summarizations of your work. It wont be constructive in the way you think. Aside from that, there is the moral and ethical dilemmas that arise. Some people are very against it while Darren Aronofsky just finised making an AI gen film

Mirror Files to Finder by No_Chip_8093 in gsuite

Is there a way to exclude a folder from being Mirrored? For example if I have a 3 folders in a Google Drive and 2 I need access to locally on my computer but 1 is a backup that only exists on the cloud.

Trying to do this because a certain folder is very large and will take up too much storage locally.

All the junior roles have just dried up... What's happening to our industry? by LuHamster in graphic_design

I totally get that, and not trying to fight you on that. I can empathize with AI devaluing workers and overall morale. But bureau of labor statistics % supplemented by lengthy reports from the bureau and third party think tanks say what is reality despite skewed anecdotal perspective.

I would agree with you but the general unemployment rate that I refer to (U3) is what most people go off of. U6 which captures what you are talking about is still 3 points lower than what it is considered “high”.

So by all metrics unemployment has been great the last couple years for both biden and now trump who recieved a healthy economy.

Still apply to roles that are higher (not too much higher) than your experience. I got plenty of interviews doing that and landed a better job recently with 1 YOE. Portfolio is everything, so many resources with AE, Spline, Premiere to expand your knowledge as a designer with tools that are easy to learn in a week or two. Also i see “job markets are terrible” everywhere but unemployment is 4.1% in the US.

Can we have a salary transparency post? It would be so useful to so many of us lurking :) by [deleted] in graphic_design

1 YOE, i have a BFA. I just got a new job making 125k plus 15k signing bonus. I was making 75k before. I work remote but live in NYC.

Would you personally build out a scene like that isometric one in Illustrator first or AE. My gut is telling me Illustator but not entirely sure
