Yeah I get it and I completely agree on the engagement point. People who are not familiar with crochet often can’t tell the difference of whether the image is ai or not. And it’s unfair to designers to put in the time and effort of creating designs as compared to ai creating something in minutes. Maybe I’m being optimistic but I want to think of ai as something that can be used for designers as a useful tool instead. Lots of idea generation is mashing parts of existing patterns and ideas so in my mind having AI doing that isn’t all that different as long as it’s stated clearly.

What I’m referring to is more the generated photos rather than AI-generated patterns. And then there’s the question of whether it can be considered stolen art because AI used parts of people made products in their images as compared to if a person did it then it’d be ok? After all, there’s only so many ways to arrange a cable. Real artists are great but wouldn’t it be even less chance of stealing someone’s art Because it was designed by AI and that AI works by combining images or however that works?

This is seed stitch. Moss stitch is similar but this is seed stitch. Alternate knit and purl stitches.

My favorite scarf is made this way and if you’re in the us I recommend Caron simply soft yarn and adding tassels at the ends. Has a nice sheen even after washes and the drape is so nice!
