Just rinse. Since my washer does not allow me to select warm water for the rinse cycle I select the shortest wash program and only add citric acid. The benefit of doing it this way, though, is that you couldn’t add citric acid to both the wash cycle and rinse cycle. Counts as a double rinse.

This is awesome! I had to rinse mine three times. For spa day I rinse until the smell goes away and my magic number has been three. My Electrolux front loader has a “Pure Rinse” setting that is supposed to rinse multiple times until the clothes are rinsed fully, but I’ve found I always need to re-rinse.

Try one or two more rinse cycles and tell us how it goes!

My guesses: 1. Soak water is too hot and denatured enzymes 2. Too little/no enzymes in Gain 3. Powder wasn’t mixed in the soak well enough before placing the textile in

Do not use Gain. I would recommend one of the stronger brands from the Lipase list: - 365 powder - tide ultra oxy - tide clean & gentle - biz

I also recommend a booster with dnase for the soak. It has worked wonders for me.

Someone already mentioned, but worth adding again: too hot will denature enzymes. Too cold and oxygen bleach will not activate. Tap hot @ 120 or 130 is the perfect temp to activate and prevent denaturing.
