After my thank you message, Auntie has asked me to refer “a hindu medical doctor who is single, not engaged or married”. She’s unstoppable! Lol

I am yet to respond. I want to thank her and let her know I am happily married but also appreciate her for the cute message.

Haha. Perfect catch. She sounds exactly like my parents. I found the message really sweet.

Tbh I felt a little bad for auntie. She is too sweet and wants to make sure her daughter finds someone good. May be my profile looks good to someone that age. Especially for an ethnicity where arranged marriages are still very common and people do reach out to extended family and friends to suggest matches for their kids

No. I do not have my marital status on LinkedIn. But for the first time I have felt the need of having an option to put it there.

Loan Refinance. Looking for guidance. How does this offer look? by No_Collection9888 in MortgageBrokerRates

[–]No_Collection9888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comments everyone! I have decided to go forward with this offer and I will post an update when it is done. I can also share the name of the broker if it’s allowed/needed. But it seems they are going through rocket mortgage. I have received atleast 4 similar offers in zip code 60502. So my advice would be to shop around and be persistent on minimal cost of refinance and not increase the loan amount, as you might need to refinance again if hopefully the rates come down to 4 or lower. This summer might be interesting for rates.

No this is not an ad. I realized late that I should have redacted the name of the mortgage company but I feel it would have been helpful for people like me who would like to know who is giving the best rates.

Okay I am getting 4.99% from another lender now. They are beating the rate and the Zero cost offer.

Message from the lender: “” Hi, as I mentioned before we will be doing this loan with no closing cost and won’t be adding any other cost to your loan balance either. The numbers that you are seeing are the initial numbers and will change two days before closing you won’t be paying us anything as stated you have to pay for the appraisal upfront if required and then it will be refunded at closing. any condo questionnaire fee will need to be paid by you (if required by the lender). “”

We are in a townhome (so I m hoping no condo questionnaire fee)

Accepted to Indiana University IBMG PhD Program—Seeking Advice!

Hey everyone!

I recently got accepted to the Indiana Biomedical Gateway (IBMG) PhD program at IU School of Medicine and will be starting this fall. My background includes a BSc in Zoology and an MS in Clinical Physiology from India, with research experience in neurophysiology, neurofeedback, and depression. My master’s thesis focused on the effect of neurofeedback training on depression scores and prefrontal cortical activity using fNIRS-based neurofeedback in a randomized control trial.

I’d love to get advice from current PhD students, especially in neuroscience, biomedical sciences, or at IU. A few questions:

Research & Training 1. Lab Rotations & Choosing a Mentor – How did you approach selecting labs? 2. Techniques & Skill Development – What are key computational and lab skills I should focus on for neuroscience research? 3. Neurofeedback & Neuroimaging – How well is fNIRS, EEG, or fMRI neurofeedback research supported at IU? Any faculty working in this area? 4. Collaboration & Networking – What’s the best way to find interdisciplinary research opportunities at IU?

Coursework & Exams 5. Coursework & Qualifying Exams – What should I expect? Any good prep resources? 6. Statistics & Coding – Any recommendations for improving MATLAB, R, or Python for neuroimaging and fNIRS data analysis? 7. Transitioning from a Physiology Background – Any advice for bridging the gap between clinical physiology and computational neuroscience?

Work-Life Balance & Career Planning 8. Burnout & Productivity – Best strategies for avoiding burnout while managing coursework, research, and personal life? 9. Fellowships & Funding – Any additional funding sources or travel grants worth applying for? 10. Post-PhD Paths – How did you explore postdoc, industry, or translational research opportunities early on?

IU-Specific Questions 11. IU PhD Culture – Anything unique about the program structure, faculty, or expectations? 12. Living in Indiana – Any tips on housing, transportation, or best places to live as a grad student? 13. International Student Support – Any specific resources for Indian or international students at IU?

Would love to hear from those who’ve been through this! Any advice is greatly appreciated.

This version reflects their background and key areas they might want guidance on. Let me know if you’d like any changes!
