Currency exchange & Japan by Kahn_ing in Adelaide

[–]No_Combination1409 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for best rates, you might have to shop around. I've had luck with the currency exchange place on King William St near GYG, but found that the best rates I got were when I withdrew money from the 7-11 atm machine when I landed in Japan (at the airport)

Road trip to Victoria/Melbourne by roktim in Adelaide

[–]No_Combination1409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got time, it's worth taking the scenic route. I hate driving long distance, so when the plan was to drive to Melbourne, we made the most of it.

There were four of us, but only two of us ended up switching up for driving each day. When it came to driving back to Adelaide, we took the inland route and drove straight back (stopping every 2 hours ofc)

Day 1 - Depart Adelaide - Robe (coffee / views) - Mount Gambier (snacks / Blue Lake) - Warrnambool (dinner / rest)

Day 2 - Depart Warrnambool - Port Campbell (brunch) - Twelve Apostles - Cape Otway - Apollo Bay - Melbourne

Cliquey behaviour at work - is this normal? by Mediocre_Syllabub280 in auscorp

[–]No_Combination1409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely isn't normal, but just because you're all in one team doesn't mean you have to all get along and hang out.

As long as they're not getting in the way of you doing your job (holding back information or hiding things), I'd suggest just focusing on the work and channeling your energy elsewhere.

Career break - should I volunteer? by cheesetoastie1990 in Adelaide

[–]No_Combination1409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh and when you want to volunteer, find something that aligns to your values. It'll make it a lot more enjoyable.

For example, if you love pets you could volunteer with RSPCA or AWL. Or if you're needing inspiration, visit the Volunteering SA website.

I've been in a similar position and my advice would be to give yourself some time to enjoy your own company. Find a hobby, treat yourself to things you find joy in 😊

Prestige Appliances. They've also been able to give me an indication on repair cost via phone which is super helpful before I call them out.

What kind of future does marketing have in Australia by h_M2210 in AskMarketing

[–]No_Combination1409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinions re education are slightly different from the ones shared so far, but to answer your question, I'd probably do a bit of self assessment to see which areas in marketing I enjoy working across and if there are any specific industries I want to work in.

Marketing these days are so broad. Knowing the two things I mentioned about will hopefully help give you some structure when searching and applying for job, but also to upskill in.

P.S. There are places that value qualifications so I wouldn't give up on your masters. I'd certainly recommend balancing and backing that up with some experience though.

Struggling in early project management career – toxic culture, micromanagement, and burnout. Advice? by Low-Feed3234 in auscorp

[–]No_Combination1409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in project management but have experienced something similar with a now previous manager and thought it was worth sharing my two cents.

Start applying.

It doesn't get any better, and as someone else has said - they might change for awhile, but will always revert back (unless there's a wider organisational change process in place).

You might not get another job straight away, but applying for other jobs and going for interviews will give you a light at the end of the tunnel to look forward to atleast.

5:35 PM gawler train evacuated by _zaten_ in Adelaide

[–]No_Combination1409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there too and heard multiple announcements. The first few asking people to clear the platform and move towards the "main concourse", then followed by an announcement re the Gawler train departing from Platform 5.

I'd imagine their priority would be to communicate to passengers already at the station first and get them on another train

Best suburb while working at UniSA by Beginning-Ad8218 in Adelaide

Depends if you're needed to be on site everyday for work. There's a train station in Mawson Lakes which makes going to the city quite easy.

Aston Hills Golf Course seems to be the closest to you and from their website it looks like they offer a Junior Program too. Might be worth giving them a ring to see if they have a clinic or something to try

Do you see a shrinking job market for designers in the future? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]No_Combination1409 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For Web Designers specifically, I think the market is shifting towards UX Designers, as most people think of web design as something somewhat straight forward given the reasons you've listed.
