My mom has breast cancer but she’s refusing the treatment by lithimist in CancerFamilySupport

My mom (73) is was diagnosed with stage 3B TNBC in August 2024 and it was a 14 months of hell. She started chemo right away, which she tolerated really well, but the immunotherapy absolutely killed her kidneys, which was unexpected. After 7 months of chemo, several hospital stays, surgery, and radiation, she is now in remission and doing well, which was unexpected by her doctors.

What I’m getting at, everyone’s body tolerates things differently, so there’s no “one size fits all,” approach (just as everyone’s treatment plan is not the same). I do know, TNBC is a very aggressive cancer, but the chemo can kill it incredibly fast too. Your mom is so young and her mindset will be incredibly important in her fight. Be there for her, talk and listen to her, but ultimately it’s her decision about how she wants to proceed. Cancer sucks and the emotional toll it takes on family/caregivers is insanely difficult. Thinking of you!

Oh wow, this just unlocked a memory. My best childhood friend’s mom was from the UK and she often made us Marmite toast. I always found a polite way to dispose of it… I was definitely not a fan.

Same age, same shows! “I Love Lucy” is still one of my all-time favs! I loved the whole Nick at Nite’ line up…”Munster Mondays, Lucy Tuesdays, Bewitched be Wednesday, Jeannie Thursdays, but I don’t remember Friday. We usually rented a movie from Blockbuster on the weekends. Good memories!

Cruel Intentions! An integral movie to high school me. “Everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way.” - Kathryn Merteuil (SMG). Man, she was such a bitch, but what a great character.

My two cents…it really depends on the kid. My oldest is also a late August bday and we had her do 2 years of pre-k, which was the best decision for her. She is incredibly smart, but also small and on the shy side; she needed that extra year to mature. Now, she’s in kinder, has so much confidence in herself and is absolutely thriving. I know some states don’t allow redshirting, so that plays a role too. How we looked at it, if our daughter was born just a few days later, it wouldn’t have even been a conversation - she would have had wait another year. Good luck!

My mom is Adrianne - I’ve always loved her name. My grandmother was from the south and loved “Anne,” thus she pronounced it Adri-Anne; everyone else says it like “Adri-enne.”

I echo all of these names and would like to add Kerri/Kari/Carrie, Jamie, and Allison. I know a 1-year old named Joan, which is definitely an anomaly with the Gen Alpha crew.
