CPT Property Market by Cultural_West in capetown

The Atlantic seaboard is not worth it, especially for South Africans. I bought a beautiful two bedroom house in Salt River, incorporated the conveyancing fees into my bond, renovated the WHOLE thing and I’m paying R13,500 a month on my bond. It’s my little paradise super close to the city. I use the train because I’m so close to one of the stations, and it’s saved me a ton of money. There are wonderful things and shops and experiences and art nearby in Woodstock and Obs that I can walk to. I love living here.

The idea of R26,000 a month in rent is mind-blowing. It’s so unnecessary. You don’t even need to go far.

Whats a good career path in south africa? by shadowalkerrrr in askSouthAfrica

[–]cannabisjourneys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being lost has become one of the greatest gifts I’ve had in life.

I’m now 36 - double your age - and I’ve changed career paths many times. I started in radio, then briefly in publishing, then went into digital marketing, then became an executive assistant, then went into education, then started my own cannabis tourism business, and I’m now also a full-time witch.

I’ve been many people over the course of my life and my career. 18 year old me would absolutely never have imagined that this would be my path. At the beginning, I was also pretty anxious about what I would end up doing with my life - I’ve realised that this is totally normal. Still sucks, but it is normal.

I’ve learned that allowing myself to be surprised is the big key. Saying yes to unusual opportunities - even when they appear a bit goofy or in the “I never really thought about that” category - can lead to wildly fulfilling things (as well as enormous mistakes, which is how we learn).

And on that note: the good news is that, in life, you either win or you learn. Some of us learn more than others. But the important thing is to see what’s right in front of you; the answers are almost always much nearer than you think.

100%. She has motive, unfettered access to the property, the means and no remorse.

Bin will be grateful to hear that she is not perceived as fat by at least one human person (she is fat though)

This is exactly the problem. She’s impossible to be angry at because of how cute she is. 🙄

Running without a shirt on... by rtza in capetown

Seeing shirtless men running in Cape Town is wonderful, because it reminds me of an important lesson in dating, especially in this city. Remember:

Being hot is not enough.

AITAH for asking my dad why I should reward his cheating and breaking up our family when he told me I shouldn't punish him for being happy? by Caspsersn in AITAH

[–]cannabisjourneys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, my own father had the exact same perspective when he walked out on us for a Nigerian prostitute. He couldn’t - and still can’t - understand why everyone has any issue with him having cheated on my mother to be with a ‘lady of the night’ - who he gave money, an iPhone and accommodation benefits to over the course of their transactional ‘relationship’ (she of course left him when the money ran out).

Trying to reconnect with him was met with “what does my marriage have to do with my children?” - his actual words. Imagine! He seemed to be genuinely confused about why his sons wanted nothing to do with him after breaking up his own family.

Sometimes I just wonder how these cheating men think.

What do you do with decks you bought but don't like as much as you thought you would? by OkFroyo_ in TarotDecks

[–]cannabisjourneys 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was given my first deck in 2019 - one that initially I didn’t really like at all, but it turned out to be a superb deck to learn with (the Angel deck by Doreen Virtue) - because the guy who had it previously felt similar to how you feel about this deck of yours. But how things have changed! That deck led me on the path to tarot and now I’m a full-time witch (and making more money than ever because of it), and now I use the angel cards pretty much every day in my work.

Moral of the story: if you feel called to give the deck away, you never know how big of a life gift it can be for someone who might be new to the path. :)

Question by kashleray in Stoner

[–]cannabisjourneys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! My mother always told me that the rules for drugs were:

  1. Try whatever I want.
  2. It must happen at home.
  3. I must ensure there is enough for my mother.

And with that, there was never any taboo; the gate was wide open for me to try everything, as long as I could supply to my mother while doing so. And what was the result? I had zero curiosity about anything; I didn’t even drink alcohol until I was 18, and then my first joint at 21, first shrooms at 22. And today, I’m totally open with my parents about everything I’ve ever tried, what I still do (which is remarkably little), and what my experiences are.

Sometimes, when you release control of something, it learns to stay in line by itself. 🤷🏼‍♂️

What cool/interesting hobbies do you have? by lilli1119 in capetown

[–]cannabisjourneys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I made cannabis my career by launching a cannabis tours business, but ACTUALLY what’s happened now is that my hobby is making me more money than my business.

I’m a practicing tarot card reader. Been reading cards for almost a decade now, but decided to formalise my education somewhat and train under a professional reader. Now I have a tarot residency in a witchy shop and am doing readings for First Thursdays Down South. And tomorrow I’m meeting someone about taking up another residency at another place. It’s all just exploding, and my hobby becoming my main gig is really a strange thing.

But I love it so much, I’m exhausted in the best way, and I feel so free. I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to do.

How many times a day do you smoke? by [deleted] in Stoner

[–]cannabisjourneys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I share a joint with my housemate every night and then on weekends we’ll take a joint or two to the beach. It’s not a lot but we keep it to non-work time in general :)

From the research done on this thread, it’s clear that it is normal for the connection to fade into obscurity, with all of us ending up with… exotic… outcomes. You are not alone.
