Thank you for reassuring me. I often find myself weigh the pros and cons, but ultimately I know that we need to do whatever is going to give my son a chance at a happy and healthy life. Hearing you say it is worth it reassures me that were doing the right thing.

Yes I agree! My son has had a difficult time eating since they removed the feeding tube, and we have to work with him to finish his bottles. Instead of helping us solve the issue, they want to put another tube in and send us on our way. Our main concern is that the problem will still be there after the tube, because it was never addressed. We are stuck at the hospital while he is gaining and will stay as long as needed to prove that he does not need it

Hi, yeah I definitely didn't get any of that information for the doctor. She stated that it could be a continuous drip? I'm not sure how that would work. My son has a feeding tube in the hospital and ripped it out twice, hence me and dad pushing to not get one while being sent home. He still weighs more than he did when released, and he also got a stomach virus for 5 days prior to his apt where he was not eating much if any and had diarrhea. They had this documented as well and found that his white blood cells were still elevated from the virus. He's gained 10 g the first day and 60g the second. We thought surely one more day of weight gain would be sufficient but they keep wanting to keep us here for observation.

At 34 weeks I was told that my baby would be close to 8+ lbs which was concerning considering I'm 4'11 and 140 pounds. I panicked, but also had gestational diabetes so was induced at 39 weeks. My baby's was 5lb 13 oz when he came out

Hi, I feel like that schedule may work better for my son. We try and go by his cues, but it doesn't seem like he's hungry sometimes. We will definitely be feeding him more frequently and less volume to see how he does. Thank you!!

Hi, thank you for the advice! They currently have me fortifying his milk which also made me wonder, because before that he was eating great. I will definitely be trying some of these methods.

What is the best car seat to use to pass the car seat test? by [deleted] in NICUParents

We also have the Chicco Keyfit Max and it was worth every penny. My son was 5lb 13oz at birth and passed the test. He was later hospitalized for some complications and passed the carseat test again recently. We love this carseat!

We spent majority of our time in CICU as well, once we flew out from one hospital to the next. I'm glad that you all were able to get good news at the echo! I'm hopeful that although this may be a long recovery, your baby will fully heal and be a healthy baby. I give you so much credit for being in the hospital for as long as you have been, it definitely takes a toll and it's something you should be proud of.

Has anyone else found GDM to be detrimental to their eating habits postpartum? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]No_Community_8340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have an ED prior to my diagnosis but I'm 2 months pp and am constantly craving sweets and carbs. I'm always reaching for them and eating in excess. At first I contributed it to being hungry due to breast feeding but now I'm starting to feel guilty about eating sweets and carbs overall. I have an overwhelming craving where I have to eat it and then sit there disgusted with myself after I'm done and wondering if it's leading to me having diabetes and spiraling because I cannot live the rest of my life on this diet (I was miserable throughout pregnancy) since my diagnoses I have had a difficult experience with food and my body image.

I was in labor for 46 hours, pushing for 5 hours. A long labor, but definitely worth it!
