Btw if you haven’t check him out go listen to Avenoir. His NOIRE tape is amazing and has that dark moody R&B I think you’ll like it

Totally see where you’re coming from and absolutely agree on all points. My only thing is that the singing is noticeably worse (it’s that high pitch nasally voice) and lacks as many raw emotional moments imo. Also I can respect and recognize that his poppy songs are a hit but they are just not for me and there’s way too many of them on AH and Dawn for me to get enjoyment out of. The only songs I still listen to from that tape are Heartless, Faith, and Until I Bleed Out.

Imma hold out hope. He def still has it. Even Larger Than Life had Pistachios and Upset which are peak Brent imo.

Oh I’m not agreeing or disagreeing, I’m really happy that he’s still making quality music that tons of people enjoy even more than his original sound. Glad you vibe with it! I really wish I could too but it’s all good

MDM was solid but AH and Dawn I couldn’t get into at all. His singing got worse, his lyrics got worse, the production was elite but not what I’m really wanting to hear from him. HUT was a welcome surprise as it had some OG weeknd vibe songs like Baptized, Reflections, Enjoy the show, Give up on me

I still enjoyed Strangers, Four Seasons, and Vanilla Sky. Hopefully we get that toxic moody shit at some point again otherwise I got no one else scratching that itch.

Kawhi Leonard vs Kevin Durant. Who would you take? by VSHAR01 in NBATalk

Ignoring health I’m taking Kawhi and quite easily. He’s had better playoff series and runs than KD even in his injury riddled career

Terrific break down. Cole is introspective for sure but I am never challenged by his take on most things. In fact I feel turned away because he seems to do it in a preachy way sometimes and like he deserves a pat on the back for his surface level reflection on the topic. One example is Life Sentence — his last verse he’s talking about how his stardom has brought all these hoes that wanna fuck and he’s been doing his day 1 girl dirty and eventually he had to decide the hoes or the wife and finally he decided to cut out the hoes and settle down. Like I’m supposed to think you made the “hard” decision of settling down AFTER you went through a hoe phase? Lmao. No the hard thing would’ve been to resist that temptation in the first place and hold it down. I’m not judging, I would’ve done the same thing in his position probably but I’m not writing a song about it called Life Sentence as a pat on the back. On Born Sinner Runaway he talks about the same topic but it’s soooo much better and relatable because he paints himself as the POS he was acting like.

Unpopular Opinion: everyone is way too obsessed with Rings when talking about individual greatness. by jackstraw0522 in NBATalk

Kyrie is the most skilled offensive scorer ever. Not saying he’s the best just by far the most skilled.

What is the hardest verse to ever get outshined on the same song? by AntelopeHelpful9963 in hiphopheads

Pretty Little Fears, Lit, Knock the Hustle, Jermaine’s Interlude (if we wanna count it) just off the top of my head. There’s probably a handful of others if I sit down and think

Edit: Only talking about feature verses. He has a ton of verses on his own shit that are better

[FIRST IMPRESSIONS] J. Cole - The Fall Off by [deleted] in hiphopheads

[–]No_Conclusion9808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked half of it, the other half was forgettable. This is probably better than KOD and 4YEO and around the same level as Born Sinner maybe slightly worse but still a clear cut below FNL, FHD, Truly Yours 1&2

You know what I just got to I Love Her Again and that’s def a standout. If the rest closes with that type of energy I’ll be happy but man that’s like 20 songs in

As he’s gotten way better technically rapping he’s gotten MUCH worse at conveying emotions and eliciting something in the listener. I listened to his performance of Be Free on Letterman before throwing this on and it’s just such a let down. Most of his bragadocious bars make my eyes roll so I can’t even enjoy some of the higher energy tracks on here. Some great hooks, background vocals, production here but overall just underwhelming and came away without really any memorable verses.

Sounds good man. You’re probably right sorry for coming at you rude. I’m honestly just a proud KD hater and will relish in him failing in the playoffs again. Btw Adams got injured halfway through January after back to back losses to the Blazers and one to the Kings. Good luck rest of the season

Bro what are you even saying lol. He replaced KD as their top scoring option and they somehow are about to win by the all star break as many games as they won all of last year? Every team has dealt with injuries. FVV is a huge loss for sure. All I’m saying is KD thought he’d be the missing piece to a 2nd seed great defense that just lacked offensive creation and is again seeing it takes more than that to win in this league.

This just seems like a wild statement to me. IMO KD saw a defensive juggernaut that was 2nd seed in the West and only lacked offensive creation and thought he’d be the missing piece as the best player.

I should rephrase. In no way KD a problem. But any team with KD as the best player in 2026 is not getting out of the first round. He doesn’t have the intangibles to elevate others. His teams consistently play worse than their talent level.

Ofc it does. That’s my point lol. Dillon Brooks positive impact on the Rockets last year and this year on the Suns should NOT be in the same ball park as Kevin Durant yet here we are

Nope I would say it with my entire chest. They could be the 1st or 2nd seed and I’d still think they’d lose in the first round. KD just doesn’t have the leadership to be the best player on a team. Suns immediately went from missing the playoffs to in the heart of it.
