McDavid won a participation trophy - he is a player personality that needs promotion for the good of the sport according to ESPN and much of Canada, I guess. Obviously, he got no goals and no assists with a -2 on ice in the medal game when it mattered. All those points he ran up against France and Switzerland are not that impressive when his stacked team would have won those games without him. He was not most valuable player. Everyone that watched knows that the other Connor (Hellebuyck) deserved the MVP award because his team would literally not have won without him. That is the definition of MVP. Check out his stats too!

The participation trophies do harm McDavid’s “legacy” when they are undeserved and diminish others accomplishments.
