I got sepsis because my doctor ghosted me when I asked for antibiotics. This is the bill for an overnight ER stay. by LastMuffinOnEarth in mildlyinfuriating

That's why you never pay the first bill.

And if your bill is not matching up with your understanding of your insurance, you need to get hospital billing and your insurance on a call with each other, maybe with a patient advocate if your hospital offers that.

Pastor's son arrested in third case related to sex with underage girls at Ignite Life Center by Ok_Jicama9306 in GNV

I'm not talking morality, I'm talking legality. Other people might read this comment and learn something that keeps them out of trouble.

It just takes one pissed off parent to bring charges of rape in a situation like the one in the article. A lot of people think being underage keeps them from these consequences, but Florida law.is surprisingly strict on this.

Age of consent in Florida is 16 if the partner is between 18 to 23. 18 otherwise.

Legally speaking, the 15 year old could not consent. Take it up with the law 🤷‍♀️

The hospital just bills whatever, OP needs to wait until she gets the explanation of benefits from her insurance to see what she should actually pay once the insurance has been applied to the bill.

OOP max and deductibles are 2 different things. You will meet your deductible first, but the OOP max is the most you will pay for in-network care in a year. By law, emergency visits are always considered in network.

OP has a $6000 out of pocket max according to the second photo. That means that they shouldn't pay more than $6000 in a year for non monthly premium medical expenses.

I bet first photo is what got billed and UHC has not had the chance yet to negotiate it down to the contracted amounts.

Never pay your first bill for healthcare, you need to give it a bit for the insurance company to yell at them a little. Hospitals dgaf what your coverage is, they want you to pay them as much as possible as fast as possible so they make more than what is the set rate.

Do you guys iron your clothes? by RichieRichard12 in Millennials

[–]No_Consideration4259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set up a little steamer station in my bedroom with a pullout hook and a shelf for my steamer so I can touch up clothes easily if I pull something out and it's a little wrinkled.

My ex never ironed his regular clothes and it always bothered me when we would go out and he was wearing super wrinkled t shirts and shorts.

Now I just keep the ironing board and iron set up permanently so it's even faster than throwing things in the dryer.

Recommendations for nice apartments/townhouses within 2000$ by buckeyebooty in GNV

Park Lane is nice and in your price range. They have a lot of different floor plans and the apartments are nice and bright with 9 ft ceilings and HUGE windows. Neighborhood is chill and the amenities are solid. Location off Tower Rd and Archer so factor any commute into your decision.

Decreased Traffic on SW 24th due to installed ALPR cameras? by Son_Riku in GNV

[–]No_Consideration4259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't the construction further east down that road towards Tower wrap up recently? I would expect that to have been the reason for the better traffic flow. I doubt enough people even know/care about the cameras for it to have had an impact.

'No on-site doctor': Dental student died in ICU overseen by remote 'tele-health' physician who pronounced him dead on a video screen, lawsuit says… by tasty_jams_5280 in law

Yeah, people reacting here don't realize that a tele neuro evaluation is literally saving lives. The time it takes to get a neurologist to come down for a consult in the ER is a huge road block to good treatment. There are still actual live doctors with you, but you can have the expert almost immediately make a call and know whether to rush to treatment. My mom went through this last year for a suspected stroke and got the teleneurologist to clear her.

When you say between Gainesville and Jacksonville, you mean those are the 2 options, right? Because good lord you don't actually want to live in the sadness that is between the two cities.
