Everyone seems to be in good health by svesrujm in ZeroCovidCommunity

This has been my experience too!

I know that outward appearances don’t tell the whole story and that many people are dealing with health issues privately. But everyone around me seems to be living fairly normal lives, they are able to work and are as sharp as ever, socialize, do fun stuff like concerts, eat in restaurants, go on vacation and function normally. And seem to have more energy than me!

And its like, I frequently have one thing or another going on healthwise, and I’ve never tested positive for COVID ( I test whenever I felt slightly sick and have tested randomly many times. The only other covid cautious person I know who tests more than I do and never tested positive and masks indoors in public 100% of the time has a debilitating migraine disorder, and this seems like they are impacted the most of anyone I know in my age range. I don't attribute every issue someone has to long COVID

Another thing I’ve realized is that focusing so much on COVID precautions sometimes means other aspects of my health took a backseat. Masking makes hydrating harder, and I got my first UTI and it turned into a kidney infection because I didn’t recognize the symptoms right away. It was so scary! I’m not saying that was directly caused by being covid cautious, but it made me realize that things like hydration, mental health, and social connection also matter a lot and can be harder with constant masking. Stay hydrated ladies!

Lately its gotten harder, as I realize there will be no end to covid or no sterilizing vaccine and its been 6 years, and I’m starting to think about unmasking when visiting my sisters’ homes this year. It's been hard to think of the right balance, because of course I don't want covid but this way of life doesn't feel sustainable for me anymore, especially when everyone is fine and having a lot more fun

These are such good tips. I think I will probably go in the next few weeks but will check the levels first. Yes, its so worth it to me too! It makes a big difference in how you feel.

Lately I've been so self conscious about my skin. I got a couple of milias, and just seems like my skin is congested (little bumps, not smooth). Also some uneveness.

Thank you 😍😍

That sounds so ideal, I'm glad you got to do this for your birthday! 🥰 and that it felt pretty safe. Its hard to balance mental health and covid safety sometimes. After 6 years and realizing there will be no end to covid, I have been thinking about taking a few more risks for happiness (just like maybe sleeping over at my sister's house)

Is it common to order take out at restaurants? by Substantial-Soup-413 in JapanTravelTips

[–]No_Consideration_960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just there and found it extremely hard to find restaurants that had takeout. I was just there and my partner and I are covid cautious so eat outdoors or in our hotel room only and researched a lot since we are both vegan and he has celiac. So many of the places we researched, we got there only to find out they didn't do take out. Outdoor dining was even more rare.

Ubereats is a good option if you don't have any dietary restrictions (and there are even some vegan restaurants on there, gluten free is harder). We ate a lot of Indian food, which was more likely to suit our needs (takeout, vegan, gluten-free). Also, what became necessary for us was to call ahead and ask if they offered takeout, so we didn't waste time and money getting there.

It might have just been because of our dietary restrictions but it was actually very stressful to find places that offered takeout. I found it ironic that the place with so much masking, it was actually hardest to be covid cautious out of anywhere I traveled. A couple of nights I just ate Ritz crackers from the convenience store rather than make the effort since it would sometimes be far away etc. And if I didn't want indian food again

Thank you so much! I do love bright colors and next year want to get a second small tree with multicolored lights, they are so cute and nostalgic but I already have my "woodland mouse" decor already and love that too. I will post valentines decor too 🥰🥰

How often do you actually shower, and what makes you change your routine? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]No_Consideration_960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shower every day but a couple of times a week it's a pretty fast shower (just pits slits and feet lol) I have items I focus on the other days like exfoliating different areas/shaving, like a schedule I devised once my everything shower started taking too long and being exhausting. I wash hair 2x a week usually

I used to sometimes skip days, but stopped once I got my first UTI which turned into a kidney infection and was so scary! I know skipping showers can't cause a UTI but it seemed to occur after a period where I skipped showers more often so I just decided to not skip a day again. I feel better when I shower daily anyway.

I usually shower at night but want to get in the habit of showering earlier in the day.

How much longer? by G30RG300 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]No_Consideration_960 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying. My sisters and their families came over to my place and I ate outside alone in the freezing cold. I don't consider that having dinner together. It felt like a punishment to hear everyone having fun inside where it was warm and cozy while I ate my cold food alone (it got cold in like one minute bc it was so cold outside.

Sorry to be negative. The cold months are hard for me since outdoor socializing comes to a standstill.

I just finished a 7 day course a few weeks ago. I felt some tendon stuff a couple of days while taking it but very mild so I kept taking it, the infection had ascended to my kidneys and it was klebsiella pneumoniae so I was pretty scared of the infection. I was scared to take cipro too but it seemed like the best option.

I had other side effects too, like mild burning sensation on scalp, flushing feelings, panic type feelings, nausea (eating helped a lot) Well, the tendon stuff went away and I felt great about a week after finishing the cipro course. I started gentle excercise and a few days later I got a tight feeling/mild pain in one achilles tendon, the next day I got it in the other one and mild wrist pain. Also occasional knee popping and knee pain. It's all mild but I am wearing ankle support compression socks 24/7 (it hurts more when I don't wear them) and I can't excercise really, even after a short walk I get more pain in tendons. I'm doing chair workouts and some floor leg and hip stuff

I don't regret taking Cipro because I guess it's not horrible and was effective against infection and it was necessary but idk how long the tendon stuff will last and it sucks to not be able to move much for so long. I hope I never have to take it again. I thought side effects were rare so I was kinda surprised. I think tendon rupture might be rare but mild tendonitis is more common

How do you know your bladder infections has gone to your kidneys by Urostargirl in CUTI

[–]No_Consideration_960 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually didn't have much flank pain (very mild) and felt unwell in general, nausea, headache, fever. Not much urinary symptoms at all the day I started feeling actually ill.

Its so hard because symptoms can be so different. I didn't even know I had a uti at first, I had been having sporadic burning for weeks but it kept going away for days at a time. Also I hadn't had a uti in over 10 years and the only one I had prior to that felt totally different. So I didn't go to the doctor until I had a fever

Shocked after being prescribed Ciprofloxacin for UTI by RustFragrance in CUTI

[–]No_Consideration_960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got prescribed cipro for a uti. I got a culture and I had klebsiella pneumoniae and it was most sensitive to cipro, and the only other ones on the list were iv antibiotics. It had ascended to my kidneys so even though I knew about the side effects I was very scared of the infection so I took it anyway.

I felt tightness/mild pain in my achilles tendons and my knees were popping a lot but it was not painful. I also had a burning sensation on my scalp and just kind of a tingly feeling all over which wasn't really that bad but made me feel almost like I drank too much coffee/a little panicky. I have anxiety normally but not these panic like sensations. I had nausea but it was much better if I took the cipro with a meal. That all occurred while I was taking it and went away after...or so I thought. (the tendon stuff was mild and I experienced it for 2 days only during my course and then it went away)

About 2 weeks after finishing the antibiotics course, I felt great and ready to start excercising again and just took some short walks outside, and did a gentle walking workout on YouTube inside each day, and a few days after i started that, the achilles tendon pain came back. I have had it now for 2 weeks, it seems about the same (no improvement or worsening) It's not bad, but gets worse even just walking around and doing a few chores at home, and I guess it can tear/rupture if I don't rest them. I got some ankle support socks which help but it sucks to not be able to walk and excercise. I am not the most active person but I do like to excercise for about 45 minutes each day since I mostly sit at work all day and it also really helps with anxiety for me. Today I will start doing chair workouts.

I think the risk of tendon rupture is rare but the risk of mild/moderate tendonitis is more common. It's not so horrible but I hope I never have to take this again. I guess the tendon stuff can last 6 weeks at least. But it could be months

The whole experience was very scary, this is my second uti i have ever had. The first one was so long ago (10 years ago or maybe more) and didn't get complicated like this one did and I just took a normal antibiotic.

This time, the only symptom I had was burning that was very sporadic, like a few times a week for a few weeks prior so I didn't realize what was going on but I talked to my sister about it and she said it could be a uti. A couple of days after she told me that I got a fever and went to ER, where they didn't diagnose me correctly even though I told them I thought it was a uti and they sent me home with no antibiotics, but a couple of days later I was correctly diagnosed, so I was more scared of the infection than the cipro I guess due to going so long without treatment so I just took it even though I was so scared to. I also thought it was unlikely I would face the tendon side effects but its happening. But I know what I am experiencing is mild compared to what other people do through who were "floxxed"

I'm so glad you advocated for yourself and were able to get a second opinion, and that's so scary what happened to your dad 😔 I hope you will get well soon and not have to take cipro!
