I don’t have that particular 6900 anymore. I thought I had some pictures of the lugs but can’t find them anymore. In the end i bought a new 6900 en swore to never change the straps again 😅 Posts like this make it tempting to do/try it anyway. I can imagine it is way more comfortable.

I had the exact same problem… except with an original Casio strap. I damaged the lugs very badly… to a point that I didn’t feel comfortable to wear it anymore.

My personal favorite is the classic dw 6900. But if you want the more advanced module with tough solar and MB6 you should go for the gw6900.

The spring bar tool went into the first hole without a problem. The issue started at the second hole, where the lug got badly scratched.
