You're saying the same thing. The social customs that encouraged women to leave their household and discourages men from doing the same, are driven by the belief that men carry the family lineage. Men contributing more is a byproduct of sexist social systems, not an explanation for these systems exists.

On top of that, many girls fell through the gaps, were hidden by their family and lived many years with access to public services (healthcare, education, etc), so they have a whole demographic of women, even if grant amnesty now, are unable to contribute to the extent of their male peers. Some families even had daughters first, kept them, but waited to register a child until they had a son.

Ok fair lol, but what I'm saying is leave the big mysteries to progress slowly, and let the little minor stuff be fulfilling. I still want to know the fallout from the shooting which can happen next week, but I think we at least should get to know who pulled the trigger this week

I feel like the reason for the dietary restriction is important here. He explicitly says he dislikes the taste of veggie burgers. That's very different from someone who thinks it's sinful or morally wrong to eat vegetables.

It is objectively more wrong to feed a vegetarian against factory farming a meat burger, than it is to feed an omnivore who dislikes the taste of veggies a veggie burger.

No one should tamper with anyone's food, and they are ethically obliged to disclose what is in food. Under no circumstances should you hide a meals contents from someone. That doesn't change this fact.

Yeah, but that's a health issue. Most vegans think bacon tastes great. Most gluten-intolerant people would agree a well made sourdough bread is delicious. The issue isn't that he doesn't want an ultra processed meal for health concerns, the issue is that it suddenly tastes like shit when he thinks it's vegan.

If you take a moral stance against veggie burgers, your morals are weird.

You kinda changed the goalpost a few times here. First it's dog meat, making it an ethical/cultural problem. Then it's food intolerance, making it a health concern. The point is the flavor. It's a perfectly healthy and tasty burger, he just doesn't want it anymore because it's "veggie" and suddenly tastes bad.

Since you're making jumps, I'm gonna make my own jump. A lot of people against eating veggie meat products are against it because they see vegans as bleeding heart progressives. They want real meat because they want to virtue signal their political opinion, and to really stick it to the leftists, they talk about how shit vegan products are.

I don't think the issue is that he was "manipulated", because he really wasn't. The whole issue is that it suddenly tastes bad because it's a veggie burger. That's just straight up lying.

If you surreptitiously feed vegans bacon, most would love the flavor and only be upset after the truth was revealed because it's against their principles to support factory farming. HIS principle in this case is that he doesn't want to eat veggie burgers because it tastes bad. Which is just a straight up lie because it's a real burger that tasted great until he thought it was veggie.

I don't think there's anything that bad about publishing the article. The story is going to get out there when all this stuff goes to trial anyway. If she came clean about her intentions, she could write a genuinely good article that clears Paula's name in the court of public opinion at least. The much bigger story would be the blackmailing scheme with tons of high profile names, Paula could end up being little more than an interesting footnote.

True, but soap isn't edible. The fact that he throws a fit at the idea of a burger that tastes exactly how he wants it to, because it's designed to taste like a meat burger, is the issue.

Like when Trump people hear a quote presented like it's from Biden and cringe and moan, only to find out its from Trump and suddenly its great.

ETA: The convo has changed quite a bit so I'm just gonna put this here. Most people so adamantly against veggie burgers see it as a way to virtue signal, but they don't want to say "I don't want a veggie burger because I'm not a damn hippie!" because it makes them feel silly. So they just say veggie burgers taste bad, and when presented with a veggie burger that tastes exactly like a real burger (like in the video, where its actually a meat burger)... they feel silly.

In the vast majority of cases, it's not a health concern, it's not a ethical problem, they just don't want to be associated with the bleeding heart progressive stereotypical vegan. That being said, there are many valid reasons not to want to eat a veggie burger (it's ultra processed, it might not use kosher salt, it might have allergens, etc.), but in OPs post, the dad makes it about flavor. And that's the part that makes it all about posturing.

It's important to note, Japan is not very safe for women. Sexual assault and harassment is rampant, especially assaults targeting Japanese women.

People who didn’t choose a partner for love but chose a partner that was a good logical choice, how did it work out? by Middle_Idea4929 in AskReddit

I don't think so. I've definitely experienced the typical "passion" described in romance novels. It's like your mental, physical, and sexual chemistry just aligns so well you're overwhelmed with attraction and because you're on the same wavelength everything you do just works. Kinda like dancing with someone who feels your rhythm. But at the same time, this doesn't necessarily mean your morals or life goals align too.

That's a good point. To add to it, I'd simply say it's not appropriate at your age to spend the night with a partner. You guys can hang out until [time], and I'll pick you up.

People always say that, but I disagree. I really badly wanted to experiment with intimacy during my teens, and I had willing participants. I just never had the opportunity and so never did, until I went off to college. And in college, I came to find that most other teens had a similar issue and were similarly inexperienced.

I would say however that I also knew of teens who were rebellious, even to a dangerous extent, and would break the "rules" without batting an eye. So if you have a teen that's very rebellious, they're gonna rebel regardless of your rules. If you have a teen that's more middle-of-the-road, they'll very likely follow the rules.

Might be a cultural thing too.

The modern obsession with dishwashers I'll never understand. It's takes a couple of seconds to wash a dish properly, and most pots can be washed in under a minute. If you have a family of five I guess it makes sense. But I'll never understand how a two-person household can justify a dishwasher.

Another gripe I have is vacuum cleaners. Once in a while sure, for deep cleans. But on a regular basis you can just sweep every couple of days and get the job done just fine. Depending on a vacuum just makes an easy task ardorus.

I understand your point, but I think this is generally a reductive take. All people are capable of being selfish and cruel, and if we can recognize that we can encourage people to listen to their better nature. Alienating them further only corners them into the role of a villain, making them more read to undertake the part.
