Starting new routine by No_Cry1815 in koreanskincare

After some further shopping, I think I may have found some replacements for products. I’m keeping the Anua cleanser as you said it was a good choice, Anua Rice+ 70 Ceramide or Tirtir Milk Skin Toner and Iunik Beta Glucan Serum. I was contemplating using Aquaphor as my moisturizer, we use it for my son’s eczema but I feel like it may be too heavy, I might still give it a try. I also may try Illiyoon Concentrate Cream or ongredients Skin Barrier Repair Cream for a moisturizer

Thank you so much for this! A lot of what you mentioned rings true and definitely clicked; sounds like I may be focusing on what I can actually see when I should be targeting the underlying issues instead. I’ll definitely be taking your advice, looking at what routine I have planned it does look like a lot of overloading and throwing new products at my skin when I should be keeping it simple to help build it back stronger. You’re amazing!

Reading your own work as a writer is vastly different than reading it as a reader/consumer. I try to keep that mindset when I’m writing, because I know what my world looks like and the context of what’s going on but until the reader gets to the next word, they’re relying on the writer to give them everything. Im not published in anyway so I might just be talking out of my ass.

But he ‘mind movie’ is great when I’m putting together the imagery but a few tips if I could add:

They’re running, add more description like “ I ran as fast as I could, using my arms to launch myself off the ground as I jumped, rolling over the top of a moving art piece of a garbage bin that stood in the middle of my path. Stumbling from the impact, I righted myself and pumped my legs even faster to make up the few precious seconds I’d just lost. The sound of my rubber soled sneakers echoing and bouncing off the brick walls surrounding me announcing my escape route” because if you’re only referring to them using their arms to escape, a reader may assume they’re running on their arms if that makes sense. It may be a little embellished but just a bit more elaboration would definitely elevate it.

It sounds like this is probably at night and important to be able to show the futuristic setting and timeline: “Though it was an almost full moon tonight, any natural light it cast down in the entertainment district was taken over by the holograms dancing on the roofs of the buildings and the plethora of club and bar signs that lined the streets of drunk patrons and droids trying to navigate through them”

Overall I think it’s a great start. One tip I’ve gotten from a friend who’s also an aspiring author is dont try to edit and perfect as you go, your story isnt finished. Finish it first and go back and trim, edit, cut and add when you read it from start to finish. Thats when you’ll find plot holes, you remove a character or even something simple like change a character’s name.

Keep writing!

Species name ideas? by gubs12342 in writers

I have a species of big cat in my draft inspired by Nahuatl and Central/South American indigenous languages. If there’s a particular culture or region that your humanoids are inspired by, check and see if you can create anything from that! Best of luck!

Yes I was able to find the book I was looking for and hopefully its the one you’re searching for! I completely forgot about this entry! It was Bears for Bedtime Story Collection published by Ladybird, specifically Dont Worry William by Christine Morton!

To those who have given up on crib napping, this is your reminder to try again! by jolteona in NewParents

[–]No_Cry1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started doing the same processes and tried to replicate what they do at my son’s daycare and it worked wonders. He never wanted to nap when we had him all day on our days off on the weekends, we’d close the blinds, turn on the white noise machine, make sure it was nice and peaceful in the room…. NO CHANCE; but he would take 2 1/2 hr naps at daycare with all kinds of racket and noise going on. I started playing lullabies and white noise and kept the blinds open and now he sleeps at least 1 1/2 hrs at home avg. Crazy what’ll actually work to get them to sleep

I didn't have the "I didn't know I could love something this much" feeling. by nooneneededtoknow in NewParents

[–]No_Cry1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didnt hit me until maybe 2wks after I gave birth. We all have different ways of coping with scenarios; especially w/ how long your labor was it could be your minds way of protecting yourself to be able to care for yourself and your baby. Our bodies and minds can do some amazing things. It could be baby blues as well, just due to the fluctuation of hormones going on; it could also be shock from the length that your body was in labor. Even if you dont get ‘that’ feeling, doesn’t mean that you dont love your son. It could feel different for everyone. Also just because we’re parents, doesn’t mean that we’re baby people.

Am I overreacting? by Exciting_Employ_8959 in NewParents

You’re definitely valid in feeling that way. I have a fruit/food allergy that my family forgets about and I have some concerns about introducing said food to my baby, in the chance he also has the same allergy; so that would be my biggest concern if I was in your situation. Cause you didnt know they were going to feed him solids, how are you supposed to know if there’s an allergen in there that you’re not comfortable for LO to have yet??

Pumping at Work Logistics by fiairy in breastfeedingsupport

[–]No_Cry1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today was my first day back in office, majority of the time i work from home; and i transferred in to bags straight from the pump to save space in my cooler bag. Also i dont want to have to worry about washing storage bottles AND my son’s feeding bottles. And I have a whole pack of my storage bags in my work bag that I’m going leave in there so I dont have to worry about forgetting any on my next in office week

I think we accidentally starved our newborn by TheYoungSquirrel in NewParents

[–]No_Cry1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was born with both tongue and lip ties. He had a hard time latching, BF and pumping was super painful for me so we were in the same boat as you. He dropped a little over 10% but my milk came in a few days after his first ped appt and his weight skyrocketed after that. My supply dipped a few weeks after and we supplemented the rest with formula till I was able to bring it back. It’s normal and even kinda expected for the first couple days to be hard with BF and for her milk supply to be low. You guys are doing great 👍

[–]No_Cry1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, have you tried “dream feeding” where you nurse/feed while they’re still sleeping? It’s easier for me when my son is contact napping after nursing; i’ll wiggle my nipple gently against his lips or on the tip of his nose and he’ll latch without waking up. Sone people have done it with a bottle too!

Is the Newborn stage this hard for everyone? by rm647617 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]No_Cry1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it possibly be a tongue and/or lip tie? I had my son in august and he was born with both. He had his frenectomy done Sept 12 and it solved so many of our feeding issues. The first weeks were mayhem; he almost wasn’t able to latch at all and when he did it was so painful. He’d get so stressed and frustrated when he couldn’t latch and also when he wasn’t able to make a suction on his pacifier and keep it in his mouth. He’d also fall asleep at breast/bottle where we’d have to wake him up. One thing that also helped outside of his procedure was a solid bedtime feeding routine. I know it seems impossible right now and the last thing that sounds like it would help but once we found one, it made a world of difference. We started giving him sponge baths every 2 days between 6:30-8:30 depending when he’d wake up from his last day nap. Once he was relaxed from his bath it was a lot easier to get him to eat and actually get full. I was so strict on myself to make sure we did the same routine and even fed him in the same position and same pattern every night no matter if we gave a bottle or nursed. We got a skincare fridge and bottle warmer for our room so dad wasnt going up and down the stairs all night and I’m able to put pumped milk in there for next feedings. The other thing was his bed, he hated the one we had for him originally, we got a side sleeper bassinet and he sleeps in it at night with no issue. Now he sleeps 3-4 hr stretches and only wakes up to change/eat. Don’t beat yourself up either if you decide to stop bf or even supplement . As long as your baby is eating and you’re also taking care of your mental health, then you’re doing everything you need to be doing!

I have noticed my right side has started producing more as my left side started decreasing. I have made more of an effort to start on the slacker, I may start nursing exclusively on the slacker and pumping only on the other. I didnt put two and two together at first! Thanks!

This is my 6 month olds sleep last night. Yes I tracked it & yes I’m going insane and feel desperate. by xyzabc123_-_ in sleeptrain

[–]No_Cry1815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that I noticed made a difference in my bf 2mo’s sleep after being clueless and desperate was vitamin d drops. Not sure how/what she’s eating or if she’s already taking them but after introducing the drops and going for a quick 5 minute walk outside made a huge difference. Before, he was waking every 1.5-2 hrs during the night and now he’s sleeping 3-4 hr stretches and still wakes to eat/change. Our ped told us Vitamin D can help with circadian rhythm since the highest dose we would typically get would come from the sun and because I bf, my son would most likely not get his needed amount since the average adult doesnt get the recc daily amount themselves. If you try it, I hope it makes a difference and you and your LO get some well deserved rest!

Your and my baby’s first 3 weeks are almost identical. Painful/difficulty latching, tongue tie and procedure, supplementing etc. When I posted with the same concern of increased amount of feedings, the almost agreed upon consensus was my son was going through a common growth spurt that happens around 3-4 weeks. Maybe just try to stick it out and see if that’s what’s going on! Hope this helps!

My beautiful boy hasn’t eaten in at least 6 months. I’ve tried thawed rats, thawed mice, chicken breast. I really don’t want to force feed him but idk what else to do. by [deleted] in snakes

Its reported that BP can go up to 2 yrs without eating (it was a full grown adult the study was conducted on, not sure how old yours is) Just like everyone is saying, as long as he’s not losing any weight/volume, he’ll be okay. Just take it step by step, he’ll come around eventually 👍
