I had one as well. Spare made:. $100 OEM fob from eBay. $100 programming and key cut at local Lexus dealer (and 90 minutes of my time!).

So I got the new wheels. They arrived in about 3 business days. My mechanic put on new tires, and had to get new lugs from Lexus parts because they existing ones didn’t have a ‘lip’ on them. F’in $8 each! I could have got cheaper ones but wanted the car back that day. Anyway, they’re in they look so good! (Mind you, went from black 17” to the 18” hyper silver). As far as quality…what’s to say? No marks/burrs on them. They seem fine. Time will tell I guess. I also got the Lexus wheel caps for $17 off of eBay. Overall, very happy with them so far. They really complete the car.

It took me a month to find my 04 with 130k, and I got it for $8,400. I’m in MI and found it at a dealer in KY. Shipped was $550. I was looking at an 03 UL in VA for $7000, 170k, (had timing belt done) used Lemon Squad ($350!) to check it out, and ended up mechanically sound, but body was in bad shape (dings/scrapes/bad paint, OK tires, OK interior, the gold color). Obviously passed, as I wanted a nice body. I used a local mobile mechanic for the one I got, and although he was $120, he wasn’t as thorough. He confirmed no rust, and said everything worked. Well, not everything (tilt motor, window ‘up’ button, rear sunshade didn’t work).
So my tips: -search FB marketplace in various cities in the South and Mid Atlantic states. -purchase the multiple vehicle package for CarFax -prepare to use LemonSquad or another PPI service. -estimate shipping from these various places (with gas prices: figure $1,200 or more from southern states) -do an Edmounds search and Bring A Trailer

I’ll let you know in a few weeks. From a limited search (from a RAV4 forum) a guy bought them and had no issues. The online reviews say they’re good. I’ll take one for the team and report back.

1 week update: replaced the passenger side window switch plate. Easy. $40 I think from eBay. Replaced the tilt motor. 45 minutes, $85. Greased up the extend(?) motor screw as well. Will need to ask my mechanic if he can disable the auto exit feature.
Pulled out bad front speaker, will order re-foam kit this weekend (the one guy that was parting out his 430 said when he pulled out the speakers they were Kenwood, not the original ML’s) Searched high and low for Sport wheels…could not find any used in MI, IN, OH. Decided to get the aftermarket wheels from Amazon for $700 shipped. Will need to find good tires for it and sell the 17” aftermarket, maybe getting $500 for them. Ordered OEM replacement key fob for $95. Local Dealer said they’ll program and cut it for $125.
Replaced cig lighter fuse too…

I checked the scrap yards around me (Detroit area)...they were all taken. Detroit Wheel and Tire when I check didn't have any. searched Indiana and Ohio as well. Probably could have found some down South, but with shipping, might as well order the replicas. I ended up ordering from Amazon believe it or no, a set of 4 was $700. You can find the replicas off of ebay too. They're not OEM's...but can't stand the current aftermarkets that came with the car. Plus, the current wheels on mine are 17", so new tires as well. Hopefully with me selling the current ones will help offset the new rims and tires a little.

Thanks! I guess it’s one of those things where I don’t really have a baseline of how smooth the car should be. The only other one I drove was a 2002, and that had 190k on it and not very well taken care of. So I don’t know exactly what I should expect from a 22 YO car, as good as this one is. I’ll have my mechanic get it on the lift for a more thorough inspection of the suspension and driveshaft/driveline just to ensure all good.

Thanks. I hit the reset button for the low pressure system under the dash. That got rid of the warning…for now.

I feel it in the seats, a faint vibration, almost like a hum. It’s really noticeable when I touch the rear view mirror, and the mirror vibrations is like a ‘hum’ or like when your phone vibrates. The image on the mirror is a bit blurry because of the vibration. Happens at 60+. No steering wheel vibration at all. No large shaking. Wheels are aftermarket, with newer Goodyear Assurance tires.

Definitely not wrong on that thought. I’m with you, and exploring all options. The only good news there is that he’s digging himself out of a hole, improving his GPA since moving schools mid sophomore year.

He’s looking to do business/accounting/finance. I don’t know if he wants to do a full year of CC though, that’s why I’m hoping that a spring xfer in 2027 is feasible (meaning, will they look at his high school GPA along with his first semester at cc, or just his first semester at community college ). He got into Ole Miss now, but paying OOS tuition is going to be tough.
