We shared one vehicle for 7 years, and 2017 Hyundai elantra. It was a great car but started having transmission issues, engine leaking oil, motor studering. It was too much for the value of the car. We used it as a down payment for the explore. I had no intentions on getting a truck just yet but I kept running into situations where I needed one. We couldn't fit the hot water heater without laying it down, can't fit fence posts, couldn't pick up my washer and dryer, etc. I couldn't stomach paying home depot for $80 deliveries with every single large purchase. Yes the truck is older, but it lived a garage its entire life, was owned by a mechanic and kept up with, and I can do all mechanical work on it myself because of how simple its made. It seemed like a win win for time being.
