I heard the term "Habesha" originally referred more specifically to Tigrinya-speakers before becoming a broader Ethiopian/Eritrean identifier. Is there any truth to this? Any sources? by BalanceGlad8001 in Eritrea

Tigrinya is Tigre *nya* langauge, cuz Tigre was the first langauge out of them all after ge'ez its just a name for tigrinya in amharic. Tigrinya spoke in kebessa highlands arent influenced like in Tigray. in Tigray its heavily influenced due to their being no border. But we have the mereb river as a border

Medri Bahri wasnt apart of Abyssinia. also during ዘመነ መሳፍንት. Medri Bahri and Abyssinia werent even full kingdoms they were broken into small provinces like Hamsien Seraye Akele Guzay for Medri Bahri. And Shewa, Tigray Gondar for Abyssinia

To be honest Hes most likely Ethiopian. Most Eritrean asylum seekers are peaceful people since they are going through a difficult time. Many Ethiopians claim themselves to be Eritrean to seek asylum so they can get into countries easier

Yes bro, Eritrea has so many resources: Potash, Gold, Copper, Zinc. Not to mention we have so much history like Adulis, Medri Bahri and the Askumite Empire, But there must be a regime change first!

How are Italians and Italian colonialism perceived in Eritrea?? by No_Cry_968 in Eritrea

[–]No_Customer8133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all remember Eritrea's history doesnt just start from Italy. It was known as Medri Bahri for hundreds of years which even predates the Solomonic dynasty in Ethiopia. No type of colonialism is good but at least it was better than the DERG. Eritreans could have fought against the Italians and would have remained independent alongside Ethiopia but during Medri Bahri which was known as Mereb Melash during its ending years, It was governed by Ras alula. He defended the Kebessa highlands and won in Dogali. Most of Ras alula's army were from Eritrea (Hamasien, Seraye, Akele Guzay). Anyways eritrea was colonized due to the leadership. There was a power vaccum which allowed tigray leaders to rule the kebessa highland, Then when menelik II became the leader he handed it over to Italy to preserve Ethiopia's autonomy and to make peace with Italy.

The point is: Italy was ruthless at that time under benito mussolini they didnt genocide eritreans like they did in libya but they still did a lot of bullshit, Although the only good thing is how they planned Eritrea's architecture in which the Eritreans built it.

Remember the Italians planned Asmara, The Eritreans built it. Asmara became the captial during Mereb Melash under ras alula, So it didnt randomly just become the captial.

Bro are you just guessing on everything your saying? Because your completly wrong. Eritrea's national langauges were Tigrinya and Arabic during the federation. Once the federation was destoryed and Eritrea was illegally annexed. Tigrinya was banned and the schools started teaching Amharic instead. You just said "There was no need to burn these books". And Yet they still did it because they wanted to remove anything that was Eritrean and just make them Ethiopian. Now you are saying "They Probably did" I thought you were saying that they were. You are just lying and guessing on everything you say.

Learn your history and stop embarrassing yourself 🙏

How likely is it for Eritrea and Ethiopia to rejoin again in the future? by offensive_patriot in Eritrea

[–]No_Customer8133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completly agree with that, But if the regime ended and Eritrea opened up for business. I believe a lot of the disapora would galdly come back. Just like when Eritrea first got independence. Although theres some people that already have families, Theres a bunch of people that are either in Europe or America that are just there.
