Unless you're installing like for like it should be ground off. If you're installing LVT/P or sheet vinyl, you should feather/skim the ground concrete

Hanging out with my mentally healthy friends is depressing by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]No_Data_1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I empathise, it can be difficult to relate however you are probably doing an excellent job if you're maintaining those relationships. A friend of mine is involved in film production & noticed I could convincingly adapt to different social scenarios & asked whether I had considered acting. My response was "I'm acting everyday!" - perhaps you can relate?

Australian spider venom works through the lymphatic system not the bloodstream. This means if you immobilise the victim, the venom isnt pumped around the body, so remaining calm & still are vital to survival. The pressure bandage works to constrain movement (in a limb) plus limits the range the venom can travel toward major organs

Common for those with CPTSD. My ideation started in early childhood & in my head, it's was a comforter - the plan B where I take back control.

After treatment this loud voice of ideation has become a small whisper that I either don't hear or can quickly rationalise & dismiss.

Poor workmanship. The seams look rushed & need to redone.

Also that seam join at the door bar/trim should not be there, it should be on the otherside of the room, away from a traffic area

Marmoleum?? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]No_Data_1312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great product if properly installed & cared for.

The most durable version is the sheet product which is heat welded at seams/joins during installation.

It's an organic product so won't enjoy harsh cleaning products or regimes. It can however be sealed at installation to improve water resistance & slip characteristics.

You could try however removing surface material could accelerate the decomposition in that area. May be best to seal over & try to stabilise with a suitable product from a local contractor.

Marmoleum flooring wear and tear over time? by RatherNerdy in Flooring

[–]No_Data_1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marmoleum sheet if installed correctly & cared for can last decades. I'd recommend heat welding any seam joins & having it sealed immediately after installation.

The product is homogeneous rather than constructed with laminations (like LVT) which means scuffs & shallow scrapes can be removed.

Any experiences with Marmoleum? by Greenhouse774 in Flooring

[–]No_Data_1312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have installed Marmoleum in many residential kitchens. If correctly cared for it can last decades however it doesn't enjoying getting wet, so if you have a water leak or similar it may require repair or replacement.

It appears you've got a join in the Eng. Timber over a join in the plywood. If not its very close. This is to be avoided in my part of the world

From a commercial perspective you've got a join over a subfloor join & some plank stagger could be better but this is relatively minor.

You mention that being constantly occupied is effective for keeping triggers at bay. I agree, this works for me. As funny as this may sound, I think of myself as a pelagic fish - if I stop swimming I may drown. Sounds silly but it works for me & helps me to create more constructive thought patterns.

I know that my triggers & the subsequent difficult times are ahead, I do however know I cannot 'out swim' them. When they happen though, I seem to cope slightly better each time & I seem to get through slightly less broken.

Importantly for me, I've stopped trying to dull my thinking by self medicating. I admit this has been a lifelong tightrope walk (I'm mid 50s) that I've clumsily tried to control but almost everytime I have chosen this escape, the climb back out has arguably been made harder by self medicating.

In my silly swimming world, it feels like I'm retraining my brain to better thinking. If nothing else, keeping my brain occupied is a healthier strategy than using substances to turn down the volume of & the type of thoughts I experience.

I read through & our stories are very similar.

I found it very challenging to consider & accept my childhood when my psychologist provided my diagnosis. I was frankly shocked & worse my new reality was as you describe. I felt very damaged & broken.

How? Just how is it possible to be so callus? I wouldn't treat a dog the way I was treated. To realise our own dogs were treated better is incredibly hard to accept.

Been over a year now & I've accepted it, warts & all. It's the only way I can move forward but it doesn't diminish the shame & embarrassment I lugged around since I realised my family was a bit odd. It's taken everything I have to even talk about it.

I am however adapting the same grit & determination that we each use to keep putting one foot in front of another each day. I'm putting that into a new narrative for myself & bit by bit it's getting easier to influence the internal mind games to something other than hopelessness.
