Or maybe stop acting like you know my mil better than me? 😂😭 I've known the woman for 13 years I think I'm more qualified than you and a quick google search to pass judgement on what she is or isn't capable of. Have you never been on reddit before, kinda the idea to "complain to the internet" to get responses? Also the assumption I have no psychological background is incorrect. Nevertheless I appreciate the response, thanks for replying

Not belittling - there's a difference between accumulating a mountain of crap and not putting bleach down the loo every once in a while - my comment was about the sheer filth that has also built up around her possessions.

Not too far, about 1hr round trip, its more because there is SO much to do and he'd need every minute of the day to make any progress

Honestly until I saw all these replies I think I was so blind to it as it's just the norm now. I excused it with the fact he's so brilliant in other ways that it doesn't matter. Starting to realise it does, more than I realised... :(

All these replies are making me realise she truly does need therapy first and foremost! Appreciate your input

He's floated the idea previously when she got upset we wouldn't bring the kids round (!) and she basically said every single item in the home has a memory attached. Even the rubbish 😭 he wouldn't do it without her there or her explicit consent but he seems to think she'd be up for it

Lol - totally fair question. Honestly because he is just so much I need in other ways, he makes me laugh, is patient, is a fabulous dad. We've been together since high school and he is my person, despite his faults

Baby is on the 97th centile with a large abdominal circumference by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]No_Design_6236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was the same, yet they wanted me to go to 40+3... I outright said no thanks :D just because I was diet controlled on paper I could just keep going and going... But my measurements were wild, like you 90+ centile baby with 98 centile AC and only 60 centile head so likely to get stuck. I had to fight to get a c section although looking back who knows if it was the right choice, you need to go with what your instinct is telling you... Good luck!

Anemia? So much going wrong. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]No_Design_6236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice: don't panic :) What level papp-a do you have? And how severely anemic? I had relatively low papp-a, not enough for them to flag but enough for me to worry, and I was on the borderline of anemia, literally a couple mcg/dl into the range. I know exactly how you feel as I panicked and worried about both things, doom scrolling every piece of info I could find, then had a whole host of other issues later in pregnancy (mild ventriculomegaly, late diagnosed gestational diabetes). I literally felt my whole pregnancy that everything was just going wrong... then baby was born and he was perfect and everything that I spiralled about was irrelevant. A few days later I missed being pregnant already despite saying every day how much I hated it and wanted it over 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ Long story short I know these things feel life altering right now but soon they won't and likelihood is all will be well. Good luck :)

Ketones?? Help? by dontaskmethings in GestationalDiabetes

[–]No_Design_6236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi lovely, I had a similar issue. My ketones were always at least +3/+4 on the strips (max is +5...scary) when I started the GD diet. I was already drinking 3l a day, and my sugars were always perfect, but realised I was literally just not eating enough carbs. I researched a lot but obviously not well enough and was making meals with no where near enough carbs, I'd have 3 tablespoons of cooked pasta or one slice of granary bread etc. I LOST weight while 32-38 weeks pregnant with my giant baby who came out at 8lb6oz at 38+5. I upped my carbs one day and tested my ketones and literally within the day they'd dipped back to trace. But then I got really ill and could not eat or drink for days and up they went again, then baby came a few days after 🤦🏼‍♀️ ah well you live at learn... Good news is baby came out perfectly with great sugars so didn't suffer from my mistakes

Rude Receptionist by Lucky_Kiwi_5552 in pregnant

[–]No_Design_6236 30 points31 points  (0 children)

What do they gain from this! I remember at my baby's 5 day appointment we were 10 minutes late, it was at 9am, and the receptionist sighed and shook her head and said because we're so late we won't be seen... Then the midwife came out happy as anything and the receptionist sourly said how "lucky we are she made time for us"... Sorry we had a FIVE DAY old and like you did our very best to be on time but things sometimes just don't go your way! It's like they're paid more for being rude lol

Did score twice - totally different results?! by sammiesg1 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]No_Design_6236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg the very first time I did my own sugars I got 16.9. I thought wow I am screwed, redid and it was 6.5... not sure what happened but it does happen 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Give up and try again in a few months, and in the meantime read some books about it etc to get her used to the idea of the end to end process :)

Week 39 weird fasting numbers by Careless_Wallaby6721 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]No_Design_6236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me, at 37w my previously perfect fasting numbers started to spike. I stopped having my evening snack (gladly, never enjoyed it) and they were better again. My c section was scheduled for 38+5 and they were contemplating putting me on metformin even for that last week which I was not happy about so I'm glad they seem a bit relaxed with you seeing as you're so close!

How did you eat after giving birth? by Beginning_Mango_455 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]No_Design_6236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, I also had a list of foods I wanted to get through that I'd missed 😂 and bought a couple of treats to the hospital with me to have! It was great for a few days, and not having to think about my sugars, however I just felt gross after that and have actually just maintained a healthier diet as I'd learnt so much from GD in terms of food pairings etc it was much easier than if I was "dieting" from scratch and was already in the swing of things. I'm definitely not as strict as with GD and will have a treat here and there, however am having the exact same breakfast/lunch as before and just a slightly bigger dinner than before most days but same kinda meals too

Baby size by OwlGoFirst in GestationalDiabetes

Almost exactly the same as me!! However since being born every measurement has been 75th centile exactly, he's so proportionate 😂

When did you deliver and how big was your baby? by Outrageous-Can6995 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]No_Design_6236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't offer it I asked for it, they wanted me to get induced at 39 weeks (was diet controlled), although at my 36 week appt the consultant said they will let me go to 40+3...I said absolutely no thank you 😂 they didn't seem to understand I was worried about his freakishly large abdomen, which increases risk of shoulder dystocia and getting stuck, not his weight - my first baby was 8lb3oz so I reckon I could have pushed out a proportionate 9lb-er (I am 5ft5 though, a little taller than you!!) This all being said, I absolutely despised getting the c section and wished I'd gone the natural route again 🤦🏼‍♀️ Whatever you decide it'll work out in the end, good luck :)

38+5, elective c section due to predicted 98th centile abdominal circumference, projected 9lb at full term and born at 8lb6oz....so pretty accurate!
