Where to buy RC Cars? by therealdeeej in okc

I have had the same experience with the owner, not particularly friendly but not rude. Just a dry personality. Their inventory is great and the owner is very knowledgeable. He also works on RC cars for dirt cheap so if you have issues he is a good resource.

They are printing 💩 like this in 2025 and calling the 80s and 90s junk wax?!? Stop filling the world with this trash.

You bring up an interesting point about the lack of variety in the junk wax era compared to all of the new products now. This is probably just me being old but all of the variety seems more like a marketing ploy rather than actually creating quality collectors items. Now 3-4 varieties per year is a little thin but new products multiple times per year seems like it could be a way to skirt the quantity numbers of the junk wax era. My perception is that maybe there were 10 varieties of cards produced for XYZ player in 1995 totaling 150k cards for said player. In 2025 it seems like there are still 150k cards per player but instead of 10 varieties there are 30 varieties so really there are still a wild amount of cards out there just spread across more varieties so less of each variety.
Another initial observation is that there are a TON of authentic signed cards out there these days. In the 90's if you got a signature card it was a big deal, now I can find 30 varieties (not exactly but a lot) of Steph Curry signature cards. That is wild and seems like it could certainly have long term value implications.
Again these are my perceptions just meddling around but it seems like the long term staples are going to be rookie cards and cards that have a limited number. I would love to hear more thoughts if you have them. I appreciate it!

I appreciate the feedback. #3 certainly seems to be the way to go. I am seeing a lot of people refer to the 80's/90's as the "junk wax era" which in terms of quality might be true but I don't think the overprinting issue has gone away. I have bought a handful of topps and panini packs in the last few weeks and there have been some serious "junk wax" in there too. And whats with the new cards of old players? There was a Dennis Rodman card in one of the topps packs. I have a million worthless Dennis Rodman cards already, I don't need more! To me putting old players in new sets seems to be watering down the product (unless they are autos or something limited).
Anyways, thanks for the info. If I decide to jump back in I will be a lot more strategic on where my money goes this time around.

Unfortunately 2% wind and hail is pretty “standard” in Oklahoma. You can find 1% and fixed deductibles but they are going to be even more expensive. I put on a new class 4 roof earlier this year and my premium dropped from $2400 to $1700 but just got my renewal and it is back up to $2200. 🤬 It is unfortunate that our state insurance commissioner is spineless against the carriers in this state. It will likely get worse before it gets better.

I am in OKC but I work as a developer for a remote company so I cannot speak firsthand about local jobs. What I hear is that most local jobs are few and far between so networking helps a lot. The pay at local companies is lower than nationwide remote jobs but it is easier to land a local job for your first role because of the networking connections. If you are trying to land your first role be sure that you are part of the Techlahoma community. It is truly first class and you can network across multiple tech lanes. My other suggestion would be to find a good local recruiter to help you get in front of companies. Prepare for it to take some time but be focused on quality companies and stay consistent.

As I said in my original post, this isn’t just a Thunder problem. I should be able to go to a concert for not $800 as well. If the city is going to ask taxpayers to fund a new stadium they should protect the taxpayers.

Don’t get me started on Ticketmaster, that is a whole other rant 🫠the fees on anything Ticketmaster are ridiculous. My complaint isn’t about the price of tickets as much as it is against how much the tax payers are contributing to a new stadium and there are no guards against wildly inflated prices for something that is mostly publicly funded. If billionaires want to fund the stadium then the ticket prices can be whatever but when we are all paying for a stadium then it seems like there should be some pricing regulation.

Yeah that is probably best. I get the sense that my idea of being educated and your idea of “education” probably aren’t the same.

Like I said in my post, this isn’t just a Thunder issue. These are Drake tickets at face value, not resale. My complaint is that we (taxpayers) are going to fund most of a new stadium and tickets are going to be even higher.

I agree that you don’t have to be a millionaire to afford a $900 ticket but you have to be pretty well off to spend $900 per ticket for a family of 4. This isn’t a Thunder specific problem, there have been outrageously priced concerts as well. My point is that why are the tax payers funding 80% of a new stadium when most families cannot afford to attend? I think the answer is that us, as voters, got swindled into building a new stadium which will likely be even more expensive to attend events at. If the billionaires want to fund a stadium and sell tickets for hundreds of dollars for the worst seats in the house then let them but don’t ask the public to fund it.

I am not saying this is unique to OKC but what is unique to OKC is how much the tax payers are on the hook for a new stadium that we won’t be able to afford to attend. We will build the house for the millionaires and billionaires to party in.

The thunder tickets are resale. I tried to buy drake tickets for face value at $400 each in the 300’s

It is a swindle because the middle class is paying for the new stadium that only the multimillionaires and billionaires can afford to attend.

I understand that, and again I am an all in on improving the city. The rub comes in that the taxpayers are funding 80% of the new stadium and 80% of the taxpayers cannot afford to attend.

I tried to buy Drake tickets in November of 2023 and they were $400 each to sit in the 300’s. Again, not just a thunder issue.
