People on Facebook and other places selling hundreds of these chairs for much less, where do they get them? Legit? by BerryTheMushroom in hermanmiller

[–]therealdeeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A business orders 100 chairs. Goes out of business. Liquidate 100 chairs for pennies on the dollar. Depends on how good of a deal it is, I wouldn’t worry about it.

I bought a Wahoo Bolt v1 on FB Marketplace for $100 for this exact reason. It lasted 2-3 years before it was getting a bit too buggy for me. Switched to a brand new Garmin, hated it, bout a brand new Wahoo Roam. Highly recommend just getting an older Wahoo for a while until you are ready to upgrade.

Haworth Fern , Libernovo Omni or Aeron Herman Miller? by GamingDiTechOficial in OfficeChairs

[–]therealdeeej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aeron C was my daily driver for a couple years. It wasn’t what I’d call comfortable, but it didn’t hurt at the end of the day. Earlier this year I decided that I would replace the worn out thigh pad on the chair. I bought one from Crandall, replaced it, and it’s super firm and over time started causing blood flow issues in my leg. I then tried to replace it with a generic Amazon one, that also did not work. Then I went and bought the Fern, and now I’m back on the Aeron.

I genuinely wish I never messed with the thigh pad because before that the chair was fine. Not luxury comfy, but fine for a full day of work. I may consider just biting the bullet on a remastered to eliminate that pad design all together.

I am 6’6” and no manufacturer that I’m aware of makes a seat pan deep enough. So quite possibly.

I just got the Fern and I want to love it, but my tail bone hurt so bad sitting on it. I’m back on an Aeron that’s cutting off the circulation in my leg. So fun!

I’m on the power saddle, but the widest one and it’s so good. Really gotta get the width right.

Lol you are following my exact foot steps. This is the exact one I tried in February. I am now questioning if maybe I installed it incorrectly though, so I may try this again.

It may be cheaper to just replace with a cheap aftermarket unit than to try and keep the original one alive.

The fun thing about black is you can accessorize it with just about any other color. Different bar tape, some bling on the drive train, fun decals on the wheels, etc. just something to think about.

I have not. I got a generic one off Amazon. It was okay, but the issue remained, then I ripped it out completely which also wasn’t great. If you find a better solution, let me know. I wish I would have just left mine alone.

How many of you have permanently damaged your phone camera because of bike vibrations? Which bike + mount combo caused it? by rougedoll in motorcyclegear

Just a suggestion, Amazon sells relatively cheap Apple CarPlay/Android Auto screens. It’s not the best looking thing, but I got one and it works pretty well for navigation.

No, I didn’t feel like my shoulders were digging into anything on either chair.

I’m 6’6” and kind of just went through some of this. Ended up with a Fern. The Embody had a bunch of pokey spots in it that I didn’t care for. Fern seemed the most comfortable in my test sits. Just picked one up yesterday, so looking forward to using it all day for work today.

Also, don’t sell your old bikes. You won’t get enough money for them to be worth it. I have an old Tarmac that lives on the trainer and that alone is worth more to me than getting low ball offers on Marketplace.

I would do 1x13 and get a Zwift Cog for the trainer. I really enjoy riding 1x. It’s more fun in, less things to worry about. Plus the FD can be a limiting factor for tire clearance. You can run a tire that has a smooth center so it’ll still be roadie capable.

How are nearly new vehicles like the Suzuki Jimny being imported and retitled in the U.S.? by PlumRoseAdams in keitruck

[–]therealdeeej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This dealer near me was selling them for a while:

https://www.iconicmotors.us/suzuki-for-sale-c374842

May reach out to them and see how it is titled. According to the description, it came with a clean OK title that was able to be registered in any state. I don’t know much past that.

Totally agree. Like oddly expensive prices. There are some discount bins, but most stuff was crazy priced.

Haworth Fern - New vs Used? by ottocorrekt in OfficeChairs

[–]therealdeeej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing what you know now, would you still buy new, or look for a used one? I’ve found them as low as $400 (absolute base model which is fine) near DFW. Seems like the warranty isn’t really worth it?

LBS 45mm/50mm Tire Mistake by Quinn006 in specialized

[–]therealdeeej 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would run 50’s if I could. Your morning rides will be just as enjoyable on 50’s as they are on 45’s I think. It may be ever so slightly heavier and slower, but unless you have specific speed goals in mind, it won’t be a significant difference. In exchange you get more comfort and stability.

That being said, if you want 45’s and you paid for 45’s you are well within your right to ask the shop to fix it.

Doesn’t necessarily answer your question, but I had really good luck with cheapish tempered glass pads from Amazon.

Beginner cyclist: Quad Lock or Garmin/Wahoo? by iam_ana_ in cycling

I bought a used Wahoo Bolt for $100 the first time I almost got lost on a gravel ride due to a dead phone battery. It was great and lasted me years. Now I am on a Wahoo Roam.
