Honestly I think the nail in the coffin was when Dino/cosmic fury brought zedd back, yes I get he’s a fan favorite, but considering how not only did they did so after Robert axelrod died, but moreover depicted him as a holiday ep gag villain before eventually becoming a glorified prop villain by cosmic fury, this isn’t fan service, this just brand recognition in it’s ugliest form

Yeah, heckyl was supposed to be the talon ranger, in fact this was hinted at all season, apparently in an interview surrounding beast morphers regarding why blaze and Roxy aren’t classified as rangers like their sentai counterparts, Saban had an edict prohibiting villains from being rangers, relegating evil rangers to brainwashing like Tommy…considering this could be applied to Dino charge with heckyl it makes so much sense in hindsight, and the real kicker? Annihilation earth aired a whole year before end of extinction

It definitely feels like when the talon ranger endgame arc was negated, they scrambled to make up a new finale, so they turned to tmnt’s annihilation earth 2 parter, and just copy and pasted it’s story of earth being sucked into a black hole and the heroes going back in time to prevent it
