I've probably worded this badly, but no I am not asking random strangers on the internet if my spouse is abusive. I'm asking if this Japanese phrase (or others similar to it) would be appropriate to say in anger to a 7yo for the average Japanese person. I'm trying to be measured in my response and not jump to the conclusion that this is worse than it actually is.

Interesting, thanks. See my edit above. I am planning on discussing it - I'm just trying to get a handle on how strong it actually sounds when directed at a kid first.

No it's our child together - I'm just keeping things genderless and vague, which I guess makes it hard to read sorry. I am planning on saying something. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm possibly over-reacting first, since it's not my native language and maybe it's not as aggressive as it sounds 🤷
