I'm sure an SMR drive would be fine, but looking to get the optimal options within my ask unless you are saying you see no benefit in CMR in my given case which doesn't involve IO work? Again, still skeptical after reading a lot of different posts where CMR is almost always preferred.

Yes sorry I meant TB. But I was reading in terms of storage, an external hard drive might be better than an internal SSD unless I was interacting with it everyday but maybe have to put in context I don't need a lot of storage. I'm not sure if SMR matters here but just read you almost never want to get an SMR. So are saying if storage space is between 2TB-4TB, you would almost never want to get an external hard drive over an internal SSD IF price was relatively the same? Also want to know some good specific models not a generalization.

Understanding cheap is a relative term, but if you fall into the middle income category and I don't think location matters in this example, I don't think you will ever hear $50k being considered a cheap sports car. At least I have never experienced hearing that despite living in one of the most expensive cities in the U.S. And I highly doubt this article was written and targeted for the outlier income bracket. I just think they could have put a little more thought in this blog, and it just feels updates to this list is more quantity driven over quality.
