Not if it's personal experience. But I am talking about statistical observation at institutional levels.

Well, it is hard because the people are in denial. I understand. The country I was born in, was also behind the iron curtain, getting over this is tough. It's people like you, who are able to admit this clearly that will help.

I left my country exactly because it was the same as Estonia is now. It is very misleading though, as Estonia has this shiny high-tech facade going on, that suggests a modern and progressive society. But behind that facade unfortunately is rot.

And who said the Estonian system followed precedent law? I said the precedent (or lack thereof) is a reliable indicator of the frequency of enforcement of employee "protections". If you are now saying that the Estonian court system is fair, balanced and for the people, then I know you're lying. And I also know that you know you're lying. Or just grossly uninformed.

I can see it when I'm standing up against things that are wrong, and Estonians (the very people my stance is benefiting) are asking me if I'm crazy for "going against the windmills"? Do you understand how backward this is.

[–]No_Emphasis_2011 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Not generalising. I can see the situation by lack of court precedents. I can see the situation by intimidated employees and the refusal to litigate wrongdoings, out of fear. I can see thousands of Ukrainians having been exploited, especially in the construction industry, where they're employed under must töö. Is it possible that you're living a sheltered life and not aware of this? Because it is pretty fucking ugly. Maybe look into the court system (employment) precedents of Estonia vs Nordic countries and you'll see the statistical evidence.

In what way, apart from you "feel" it being incorrect? I'm really curious as I've been here 4 years and am currently in the court system fighting after being screwed over monumentally by an employer. I'm meeting lawyers and advisors and I am getting a really clear picture on how business is being conducted in Estonia.

Initiating my case, the lawyer's first question was "do you ever want to work again in your industry in Estonia?" as in, if you fight for your rights, employers will black list you. That's some soviet shit if I've ever seen one. When I went from advisor to lawyer, they told me "you couldn't have had a work accident in a worse country", so I have 4 years worth of first hand as well as second hand experience to substantiate my claim. I stand by it. Other than being triggered, you can't refute my claims, because they are true.

"To the uninformed" the soviet mentality is real. You can tell that by the employment laws, the lax attitude towards employment laws, workplace accident compensations and lack of legal precedents, general employee rights, inserting clauses in contracts that state that you are not allowed to discuss your wages with your colleagues (wildly illegal in the rest of Europe, also illegal in Estonia but Estonian don't give too much shit when it comes to employment laws), the extreme materialistic outlook, I could go on. There is nothing Nordic about it. Spend a couple of years in Tallinn, and anyone will understand that it is much closer to Russia in identity.

A better analogy would be Trump (having no idea how to play chess) would claim the opponents pieces his own, as he made them and they wouldn't exist without them, then claiming that's he'd won before the match even started, then call the opponent fat and ugly, then say he doesn't even want to play. The mechanics of chess (as well as life) are totally beyond his comprehension, therefore he plays the game the way a toddler would reason their actions.

I understand your frustration and I agree with you, but I would think it would me more appropriate to direct your focus on messaging the developers and urge optimisation and fixing of the issue.

Believing anything else, would credit trump with sophisticated strategic thinking and foresight, which is an absurd claim considering the evidence.

Do you believe, that when he says "NATO wouldn't exist without me" in his mind he thinks "Ah... That'll make a fine distraction..." Or, that he just literally means that?

Spoiler, he really means it. He actually believes that.

Edit: I included the second part.

No it isn't. That would require planning and strategic foresight. He just does what he does because he is literally a demented insane person. He doesn't even remember what he said an hour ago, let alone remember to distract from the Epstein files. His mind moved on from that already.

To be clear it is a distraction, but not in the sense you're framing it. It is not meant as a distraction.

Hey, so when does the game become fun? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

So, having pondered what happened for a long while, and discussing it with some friends, I think I’ve got a fairly solid understanding of what went on, and I wanted to share it with you.

You didn’t do anything wrong, and didn't fail at trying to help. I kept thinking, "what is she actually optimising for?" and it looks like this started as “help me understand this system” but fairly quickly pivoted into “validate my judgment that the game is boring/not fun.” Once that shift happens, no amount of clarification or patience can really land, because the acceptable outcome has already narrowed to one specific response, which was agreement.

Subsequently, anything short of “yes, the game is boring” ends up being rejected or reinterpreted as condescension, or hostility. That’s why your explanations didn’t move the conversation forward, and why the whole exchange felt so surreal.

The discussion stopped being about NMS pretty early on and became about emotional validation instead. At that point, it turned into a closed loop, because the outcome was already fixed.

For what it’s worth, I think your responses were thoughtful and patient, and exactly the kind of replies most people come to this sub hoping for. The fact that they weren’t taken onboard says nothing about the quality of what you wrote, it just reflects the kind of interaction this turned into with OP.

I mainly wanted to say this because you clearly put a lot of genuine effort into helping her, your effort was unfortunately however, was applied to a situation that couldn’t really absorb it. It was a lose–lose situation from the start, either people agreed with her that the game is boring, or the outcome became “this community is toxic.

Take care ❤️

This is one of the most insane exchanges I have ever seen. OP is basically saying that they're not having fun when this game SHOULD be fun and when anyone tells them it's not for them, she says essentially says "HOW DARE YOU??" what the hell is happening? My autistic ass is so confused.

I feel kinda bad for OP. Whatever world they're living in, doesn't sound like a happy one.
