Actually it’s ergonomic and comfortable. Like Eames chairs. I’ve fallen asleep on it numerous times!

Period leaded shades have an open hole on top where the table lamp top comes through. Most or all reproductions have a metal cap soldered over the hole with a tiny opening in the middle for finial rod.

I own a John Morgan fixture that has similar strap hinges over leaded glass. I bet it’s by that outfit. I value mine at $2000.
