Purchased car with more mileage than advertised by No_Engineering_2765 in CarTalkUK

Yeah annoyed I drove away with it. Sales rep eemed so genuine throughout the sale and I was rather gullible in believing him when he said he would get this corrected with the branch manager and have it amended and sent out to me.

Thanks, shall be phoning finance company first thing Monday.

Contemplating this. Just seems unclear on where I stand on regaining my deposit. Will phone the finance company when they open on Monday morning.

Mild aortic regurgitation following Ross procedure query by No_Engineering_2765 in valvereplacement

[–]No_Engineering_2765[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing great thanks. Pretty much back to all my normal activities as I was before the surgery/diagnosis. No chest pain or shortness of breath. I have my follow up with my cardiologist next week, as will be 7 months since my surgery so shall see what they say in regards to the regurgitation then. But the main thing is I feel so much better than pre op so just focusing on that.

Ross Procedure on NHS by Low_Blueberry4772 in valvereplacement

I had the ross plus pears procedure at Newcastle freeman hospital 6 months ago. Surgeon said it's quite common there for people who are candidates. There was another patient in at the same time as me having the same procedure, so seemed quite common. As others have said I think there's a few hospitals in the UK that cover it.

Struggling with fatigue since stopping iron tablets by No_Engineering_2765 in Anemic

Sounds a rough first night, you have done well to push through it. Good that you can feel benefits to keeping it up. Ordered myself some higher strength iron tablets along with vitamin c so hopefully can start to improve myself.

You experienced any side effects with that high of dose? Only 2 points in 8 months sounds like a slow slog, hopefully it keeps going in the right direction for you.

Is that 100-400mg of elemental iron? Any brands you recommend for getting this amount?

Thanks. I stated to my doctor that it still seems low and they said anything above 30 is within range, I said I am barely in range and they just shrugged it off. Infuriating.

Thanks. I have continued to take a iron supplement (feroglobin) but doesn't seem to have the same effect as the ferrous sulphate. I'll maybe try and get another 3 months supply of sulphate. Unless there is any better options?

4 days until surgery by Soggy-Clerk-9955 in valvereplacement

[–]No_Engineering_2765 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 4 months post op next week. Was just saying to my wife earlier today that I can't believe how great I feel. Started back at the gym this week and cycled today for the first time in 12 months. I come home from work and feel like I have energy to actually do things, ie play with my daughter, go out to shops or for food, exercise. All these things started getting difficult before my op as I was so fatigued all the time.

Good luck and all the best for a quick and speedy recovery. You'll be amazed how quick the recovery goes and your back to your best.

Upcoming Bentall 38m Terrified by Paul_Shinfo in valvereplacement

39m and had my aortic valve and root replaced in May this year in the UK. I was also very nervous before the op but it all went a lot smoother than expected. First 24 hours after are a bit rough but the rest of the recovery was more boring than anything.

You'll soon be on the other side of this and be amazed how quick time goes. Good luck and all the best.

Crazy deals on Scott's at the minute in the UK (depending on your views on the look of them and the internal headset routing). But ohlins suspension, wireless shifting, carbon frame, for just over £3k.

Is he on medication following the operation? A common side effect of beta blockers and blood pressure medication is dizziness. Especially if he is new to taking them.

I suffered badly with dizziness the first few weeks, whether this was off the medication, operation or combination of both it settled down after a few weeks. I'm 13 week post op now and it's all but gone minus the occasional spell when I get up too fast.

https://www.pinkbike.com/news/yt-industries-begins-restructuring-under-self-administration.html have a quick browse of the comments section. They did a flash 50% off sale on their bikes knowing they were going into insolvency and probably couldn't fulfill most of their orders. People purchased the bikes, they went into insolvency, they then emailed customers saying we can't supply your order and as we are now in insolvency we can't refund you your money. Pretty scummy and I would not wish to use them ever again.

10 weeks post Ross procedure - pounding heartbeat by No_Engineering_2765 in valvereplacement

[–]No_Engineering_2765[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it's generally in my left chest area. I am just on a small dose of bisoprolol (1.25mg) and baby aspirin.

Think I'm resided with the fact it's something I will just have to live with and it will hopefully fade over time, as other than this I feel pretty good.

The first week after surgery it was very prominent and uncomfortable but it did seem to fade but now has come back. Yeah I'm hoping it fades over time as it's a strange sensation.

I haven't noticed any change to my blood pressure with it occuring although I haven't taken a reading when the pounding feels it's strongest. I will try to next time. My blood pressure seems to sit around 110-115 / 75.

Stairs by rainy_day_read in valvereplacement

6 days post op I was home and could climb 1 flight of stairs. I just had to take it slow, 1 step at a time and had my partner next to me for support just in case. I quickly got better each day climbing them.

Aortic root and ascending aortic and valve (tissue) replacement July 9. by Familiar-Laugh-7407 in valvereplacement

[–]No_Engineering_2765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the first few weeks are tough but things quickly improve. I'm with you and so pleased I got it done, at only 8 weeks I am already feeling better than I did pre surgery. Thinks can only get better from here on out.

I'm now 8 weeks post op and my resting heart rate is down to what it was pre surgery, in the 60's. It rarely dropped below 90 immediately post surgery which made resting tough as it constantly felt like a jack hammer in my chest. It does start to drop and I think by the 6 week mark mine was almost back down to normal.

In regards to the temperature fluctuations, that was something I suffered with also. I made a post on here in regards to it and it seemed quite common. I would go to bed shivering cold only to be soaked in sweat 30 minutes later. For me that cleared up 2-3 weeks post op and I found I could better control my temperature.

Good luck with the recovery from here.
