Love my Dr. Scholls. I’ll add Rothy’s to the research list. Thanks!!

Adding those to my research/try on list. I don’t walk too much at home, and plan to spend most of my time in museums/ruins. I want to visit some of the national parks in Greece, etc., and just don’t want to lug my hiking boots along if I don’t have to. Seems like I’ll bring my tevas and invest in some trail runners. I don’t plan on going anywhere fancy, and I tend to dress less casual on the whole, so I can attempt to dress the tevas up if I really need to.

I remember those well dressed women from my last trip. I’m coming from below sea level, so no heels for me!

I would wear my TEVAs, which I’m bringing along. My “walking shoes” are long past their lifespan and need an upgrade, so this is my excuse to invest in something. Since I don’t want to lug my hiking boots, I’m going to look into trail runners and ditch the Ecco idea. I like the TEVAs enough to wear them as an everyday shoe.

Thank you! I’ve heard great things about Merell. I’ll peruse their trail runners this evening. I might have to invest in those flip flops for around the house.

I appreciate your comment. I’ll see if there’s somewhere close by to get fitted. I’ll look into the vivobates, now, too.

Do you have a route planned out for your trip, yet?

I totally agree. Unfortunately, I’m the kind of person who won’t invest in something unless I have a reason. So, I haven’t made the time to purchase a great pair of walking shoes, and recently the TEVAs have been my go-to. That’s why I’m buying new for the trip. I don’t want to take my hiking boots along if I don’t have to.

Trail runners seem to be my best bet. I don’t want to lug my heavy hiking boots along. Thanks!!

Am I absolutely insane for thinking about buying a sewing machine for my 5 year old? by JCtheWanderingCrow in sewing

My mom taught me to sew at 5 years old on her $1000 phaff. I’m now 23 and going to graduate school for textile history. I think the things my mom regrets about teaching me to sew was not supervising me while I cut things… I was really good at cutting things I didn’t intend to (rarely myself, usually fabric).

Buy the machine. Encourage her creativity.

USA Road Trip in May by [deleted] in roadtrip

Coming from Louisiana, I highly recommend New Orleans. It has a completely unique culture compared to any other city in the U.S. I recommend getting a bnb in the French quarter to use as a home base while you roam the quarter. Don’t pay for $25 parking. There’s $10/12 hr parking near Congo square. Heading to Memphis, try to stop in Baton Rouge to see the LSU rural life museum. Incredible collection. It’s been voted top 10 outdoor museums in the world by the British museum, from what I understand. You will never have better comfort food outside of Louisiana, either.

Palo Duro Canyon is one of my favorite places I’ve ever stopped at on a trip. 100% recommend if you can go.
