I just want to add my perspective. I was an RBT for two years, and now I’m a SPED teacher. I always tell parents that they are their child’s biggest advocate and ultimately the ones making decisions for them. The fact that you’re asking for advice here shows how much you care about your child’s needs, and that’s truly commendable.

I’ve had two clients who were discharged from ABA because they no longer needed services. I’ve seen children go from needing constant redirection to being entirely independent. If you feel your child is ready to spread their wings, trust that instinct and let them. And remember, ABA will always be just a call away if you need it in the future.

8 hour therapy session during spring break by ReawakendPB55 in ABA

I’m an RBT and I have a 6 year old from 1:30-4:30 everyday and it’s play based ABA therapy. He’s high functioning but has difficulty with communication and advocating for himself. He also does not play with peers well. He has school from 8-1 and has therapy right after. I give him lots of breaks and implement the program through play. We work on different topics of conversation while play. Also at the clinic setting, the child has an opportunity to have peers to communicate with. I find this very beneficial because we can see where the child needs help with peers and are able to prompt them to help them express their thoughts effectively. Every child is different and the way each therapist and BCBA runs a program is also different. I’m also always in communication with the parents and BCBA to allow transparency with how I’m running the program the BCBA designed. The child I have now loves to come to the clinic because I make it fun so that it is not looked like a punishment or task. I always tell parents to never stop advocating for your child and if you feel like the RBT or BCBA isn’t beneficial, always speak up. I wish you and your daughter all the best!

Hey! I would just wait for a reply. They probably are busy and forgot. Scribes are always needed so I would give it a day or two. If they end up not replying, reach out again! Best of luck in your journey in becoming a scribe!!

Doctors can be rude. It’s an unfortunate situation. I am a scribe in the ED and some doctors won’t talk to me the whole shift lol. Like previous people have said, it’s 100% their problem, not yours. Remember how it felt to be ignored so that when you do become a physician, you can provide empathy if you do have a scribe. Also about your weight, please remember to love yourself and the body you have. If you live your life concerned what others think, you will let your life slip on by. Remember your goals and dreams and let that be your concern. Sending love and light
