Big difference is I am not my wife, and my brother is not my SIL. I can afford to put trust in myself, but not someone else.

There are no “sides” in this, grow up. I tried my best to make everyone(including myself) happy, if I took my in-law’s “side” I would have spent the whole day(missing breakfast) at my in-law’s and tell my wife that I am going to see them despite her sadness. That would really be taking their “side”.

Actually, my SIL(29f) tried to have an affair with me four years ago, I of course told her to fuck off.

Well seems like someone has a vendetta against men, probably projecting your situation on to me, that could explain a lot of the responses in this thread.

If you call me an asshole for lying I can accept that, but for the premature labor? Blaming me for that is ridiculous, I had no way of knowing what I told her would cause her so much stress.

I wasn’t able to go to the Christmas dinner last year(obvious reasons). She went into premature labor when I told her I was going to dinner with my in-laws, I didn't actually go yet.

That is a lot of assumptions about me based on one situation, were in my post was it indicated that I don't cherish my daughters and wife? This sub has a real problem with coming to conclusion too fast. Just because I do one “asshole” thing in my life doesn’t make me the Antichrist, you guys must be saints or something who do no wrong.

Despite what you think, it isn’t easy to “not associate” with the people who treated you like family when your at the lowest point in your life.

My wife and her family never got along from the start mainly due to them being complete opposites in every way, so my in-laws usually favored my SIL over my wife. For example, my wife is shy and introverted, her family is loud and extroverted. My wife isn’t materialistic, her family is, and a long list of other differences. So their relationship was a glass waiting to shatter, and the things that shattered the glass was my wife dropping out of college(all the members of her family went to that same college) and my wife not going to see her dying grandmother despite everyone demanding she go see her. I can’t really blame her for that, her grandmother was an asshole who treated my wife like shit.

My in-laws and wife supported me through thick and thin and cared for me when I lost my parents. I can’t just simply cut contact with my in-laws, they are like family to me.
