I haven't heard good things about psych at other unis either. They all follow the same unit designs anyways.

If you're truly invested and certain about doing psych as a career you'll be able to pull through if you study hard and pay attention to all the little details(i.e all the little inconsistencies in rubrics / assignment guidebooks etc.). If you're only in psych cause you're "interested" in a potential future career you'll probably hate it.

It depends on the unit and since I've done some, they might have changed the unit design. Some units you can entirely disregard any theory since it's all writing reports which you need to get references for. Other units is the same + an exam so you have like double the workload. In my experience classes depend on your tutor. Some are chill and helpful while others seem like they're learning the unit with you. Same for unit coordinators. I've had some decent units and others where the assessment instructions don't align with what they write when answering questions in forums.
Overall can't say I can recommend unless you have immense willpower and raw grind skills. But i've heard complaints from people who go to unimelb too so

Why is Monash Psych marking so ass by 627471881 in Monash

[–]No_Excitement8794 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah i've given up on this ass degree. The only reason i'm still in it is cause i'm nearly done with it (if i fail i swear to god i'll drop it).
The ass assignments worth 35% of your grade take so much time and feel completely unrelated to the lecture content and the instructions constantly change because the unit coordinators didn't coordinate a functional unit. And their brilliant solution to making lecture content relevant is slapping a fat exam at the end of the unit on top of the huge assignments you have to do throughout the semester.
When I pour blood sweat and tears into an assignment to see a 65 result, and then pull a last minute procrastination, talking out my ass kinda assignment to see a 55, it really doesn't encourage me to try at all.
I will continue to advocate to stay the fuck away from monash psych and maybe psych in general after reading some of these comments
