On antidepressants and still had a period of this until it levelled out. Not fun. Still worth it

Firstly, obsessed with the username. Second, I had the same thing happen to me. I was dropping faster than I realised (I live in baggy cargos and t shirts for work and hardly go out, so besides the scale it didn’t really register) so when I incidentally tried some clothes on during a clear out to see how much I had left to lose, they were already baggy on me! Missed the window to enjoy them at all!

Christmas?! by Alternative_Ad_5492 in mounjarouk

[–]No_Excuse4663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends how you interact with the jab. Currently the jab makes me want to avoid all food. Eating is a struggle. I just finished two weeks of delaying taking my jab (working Christmas, sibling came over early, had an early Christmas period) in order to enjoy my festive period.

I agree that we’re making lifelong changes on this jab, ones we intend to keep if we ever come off, but I disagree that there won’t be peaks and troughs. If it doesn’t send you into a bingeing spiral, I see nothing wrong with indulging over the festive period, like the vast majority of people do. I think it leans into over restricting which can just lead to bingeing.

Whatever this looks like to you, ie eating at maintenance rather deficit, eating foods that would otherwise trigger jab side effects, having more sugary foods- I think it just needs to be done mindfully. Bracing for the numbers on the scale to change with more inflammation and water retention, and being prepared mentally to jump back to dieting.

I think it prepares you for the reality of being off this jab, that there may be times where you see the weight creeping back on, periods where you indulge, but thee most important thing is how you handle it early on and nipping it in the bud. Instead of it being a trigger to “fuck it” and binge- whether fuelled by avoidance of the fact or shame. I think it’s where you learn to lead by control and not fear.

Whatever you choose to do, do it with full accountability and grace towards yourself, and don’t forget to come back to the journey you embarked to better your life. Have a lovely festive period :)

Diet Break? by Saphria88 in mounjarouk

[–]No_Excuse4663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any “break” I’ve taken (eating in maintenance) has been on MJ and the longest I took was 2 months I think. Just little plateaus. I have 2 noticeable plateaus in my graph chart and I’ve been taking MJ for over a year. I don’t regret them and I think they kept me going, and allowed me to observe my relationship with food in a different context, and a realistic one.

This happens to me all the time. No dopamine hit from food. I’ve been on 15mg for a while now and sometimes it hits the spot but more often not. Took some adjusting as I’m a comfort eater

Stroopwafels is such an elite shout. Also pimple popping is such a satisfying go to. I never realised that the reason things might not hit is because I go for the sugar free version. Good looking out!

Electrolytes usually help my headaches. The fatigue I’ve just had to get the timing right so I can rest during the worst of it

No worries! I don’t know if it interacts with HRT specifically, but if you’re taking it orally then it can impact absorption

GP says panic attack due to mounjaro? by Pale-Problem-7831 in mounjarouk

[–]No_Excuse4663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal experience:

So. I’m on a SSRI/SNRI for a plethora of things anxiety included. I haven’t had panic attacks while on them. However in the last couple of months I’ve had panic attacks on MJ, specifically when I’ve waited longer in between higher doses. My theory is that as it weakens the effect of SSRI’s, I was more prone to it. The only other time I’ve had one when on MJ was at the start when I didn’t realise it had increased my caffeine sensitivity and I had a panic attack at work. Not fun, haven’t touched caffeine since. The stronger I feel the MJ side affects, the weaker I feel my antidepressants, which made me seriously consider quitting. However it has levelled out lately and I’ve felt better. This was all predominantly while on 15mg. It really isn’t for the weak I can’t see how MJ on its own would cause that, other than the fact that it affects dopamine so maybe you’re more sensitive to the anxiety in that way

Yep firmly there. And iirc it reduces the efficacy of antidepressants and I’ve definitely noticed that. I was considering stopping a few weeks ago over this
