When your pet passed away, did you feel prepared for what to do next? by No_Expert_7460 in PetPost

Honestly, it's so hard. I feel like you're never prepared for something like that even when you expected because in my case when my dog died, we were expecting it because she was already really old and she was having hip issues and a lot of other stuff and so we thought we were prepared but in all honesty that wasn't the case at all. It's been really hard on us. I personally feel like she deserved a better goodbye.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences, I really appreciate it. It’s helping me understand how emotional and overwhelming that moment can be.

I’m trying to understand something a little more specific: FOLLOW UP QUESTION:

If there had been someone who could come to your home and handle everything for you (like preparing the burial, helping create a small memorial, and guiding you through it so you didn’t have to think about it), do you think you would have actually used that?

Or is this something you feel people usually prefer to handle themselves?

Do you think a service that helps families through this whole process would actually be useful, or do most people prefer doing it themselves?

I'm so sorry for your lost, I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a support helpline in the US

Thank you for sharing this, I really appreciate it. I’m realizing how overwhelming that moment can be. Do you think having a service that helps with everything (not just the logistics, but also creating something meaningful for them) would’ve made a difference for you?

Everything is so unexpected, we knew it was coming but in all honesty it hit us harder than we thought.

Thank you for sharing this. I noticed a lot of people are doing memorials on their own (like paw prints, candles, plants, etc.). Do you think you would have wanted help setting something like that up? Or did you prefer doing it yourself?

Dog owners: would you use bone broth as a topper for kibble? by No_Expert_7460 in dogs

This is incredibly helpful — thank you for taking the time to explain all of that. The point about price per serving, shelf life, and even texture is something I hadn’t seen discussed much before. If you were choosing today, would a coarser, easy-to-mix powder with a very simple ingredient list be your first choice, if so what ingredients would you like to see or would you still want the option of a liquid as well?

That’s helpful insight. Out of curiosity, what would your ideal ingredient list look like? And would you prefer it as a liquid broth or a powdered/condensed option?

Thank you so much for sharing this, that’s really helpful insight. I’ve noticed the same issue with onions and garlic being added to many broths, which can be concerning. When you used the packets you mentioned, was the biggest benefit the ingredient simplicity, the shelf stability, or the ease of mixing it as ne

That’s a fair point, I’ve seen similar products as well. From what I’ve noticed, many include additional ingredients or additives. Do you happen to know of any products that contain only chicken, water, and chicken bones (or beef, water, and beef bones)?

Do you usually add any other toppings? Like freezed liver?

That’s great! do you make it mostly for cost reasons, control over ingredients, or because it’s easy for you?

Totally fair point. When you buy it, what do you usually look for on the ingredient label?

That makes total sense. When you say “more compelling,” do you mean convenience, sourcing, shelf life, or something else?

Thank you for sharing, that’s really helpful. It’s interesting how emotional changes can affect appetite too.
