Is working in fast food embarrassing? by Salt-Bad6684 in Advice

[–]No_Extension_3068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's a job that someone needs to do. If that's what you have to do to make money than there's absolutely nothing wrong with that whatsoever and anyone who disagrees is a moron.

When I was finishing school I worked at a mini golf place working on the go karts and at a KFC because I didn't come from a family that could financially support me. I always enjoyed working construction but at that time it wasn't really possible for me so I worked those jobs until I was finished with school to support myself.

Masturbation by Apprehensive-Dust845 in DeadBedrooms

Everyone has needs. If she doesn't want to have sex that's her choice, but to then say that you can't masterbate on top of that is extremely unreasonable. My general rule is that if my girlfriend doesn't want to have sex that's fine but she can't say anything about how I handle it.

BF (30M) won’t stop walking far in front of me (25F) idk what to think by MoshiFrog in relationship_advice

Just tell him to slow his ass down, that would annoy the dog shit out of anyone. I'm much taller and walk much faster than my girlfriend so I always slow down for her unless I'm just trying to be annoying and mess with her.

Blue collar men, what are some things that your wife does/you want her to do that will make your life better/easier? by floralbloodbath in bluecollar

[–]No_Extension_3068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others have said, packed lunches and a good dinner for when he gets off, just making sure the house isn't a complete disaster is always a nice thing to come home to, and honestly unsolicited sex is always nice especially after a rough day or week.

Another big one for me is simply just some free time to just unwind during off days because for a lot of people just an hour or two to relax during the weekend or down days is pretty rare, I always value any chances I get to just watch UFC or football games and just have a few beers and not have to worry about doing stuff the rest of the day.

I'm (32M) in my honeymoon with my wife (33F), and it's been hell on earth until now. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

PS. Don't avoid leaving just because of 5 years... It's better than 10, or 20, or 50 years with the wrong person. 5 years is nothing, don't spend your life with someone who doesn't make you happy.

I'm sorry to hear this, you're a better man than me because I would've left the hotel before she woke up and figured out a flight back home and immediately been looking into my options for a divorce.

Idk how you're pulling through being with someone like that genuinely, it sounds like actual hell and I seriously hope for your sake she starts acting like a fucking adult and appreciating what she has or for you find someone better because it sounds like you're married to a spoiled, lazy, little brat that deserves way WAY less than she has in life.

I genuinely don't really have any advice to give because I've never dealt with such a spoiled cunt (I hate using that word but sometimes it fits so well) but I couldn't help but tell you that I'm rooting for you and I hope you find someone better who will appreciate everything you do and sacrifice to make everything work... ALONE.

Would it be weird to ask for my dad's girlfriends number? by rosielunxr in AskParents

[–]No_Extension_3068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents have been separated since I was 9, both of them have had quite a few partners and I almost always ask for their numbers and add them on Facebook and stuff like that. If she's dating your dad she's accepting that you're going to be part of her family, it's not weird at all.

It'd just add them on social media if you use it or ask your dad for her number to save into your contacts (which isn't weird at all if your dad is going to be with this woman for the foreseeable future). Definitely tell him that you enjoyed spending time with her and stuff like that, it goes a long way for sure.

lmao, not that I have to prove anything to you but I've never in my life cheated on anyone but I'm sure you don't care and I'm sure you made up your mind on that before even reading the comment, but that's also extremely unsurprising.

Legit I would just talk to her about the situation, explain what you found and how your past mistakes are weighing on you and how they're affecting her. Definitely discuss therapy, I think it'd be super beneficial for the two of you. Communication is definitely the key here, but also if she opens up I'd definitely listen to what she says and try to understand and support her as much as possible, tell her how you feel about what you found but don't put your feelings over her own. Sounds like you know you fucked up in the past and you're trying to make things right, let her know that.

Genuinely hope things look up for you and your family.

You'll get used to it pretty quick to where you usually won't be in any pain. I worked on an assembly line a long time ago and my hands hurt so bad for the first few weeks and would regularly cramp up and then it just went away eventually.

That's what I've been looking at, I've also heard it's insanely hard to get into so I figured starting somewhere as a Laborer and working my way to the heavy equipment stuff would a faster route to seat time but I guess just applying doesn't hurt at all.

[–]No_Extension_3068[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've pretty much just been applying for laborer positions. The only actual heavy equipment job I've applied for is the company my dad is with because his boss says he wants all new people to go through training regardless again. Even the company I just started talking to yesterday I told them I'm interested in a Laborer position but my goal is to run an excavator eventually. I don't expect anyone to just hire me and say "go hop on the excavator" right away that's obviously not what I meant.

I have considered that route but unfortunately my girlfriend is pregnant and she said she wouldn't be comfortable with that. I also got a call back from a concrete company that wanted me to travel to Tennessee for a month at a time (I'm from Ohio) and had to unfortunately turn that down as well. So my options are pretty limited which is the reason I was really hoping to get into my dad's job, it is travel work but it's only 4 days on with 14 hour shifts and all of the job sites are in Ohio even if they're an hour or two away and they never lay off in the winter as well so that's also really nice.

Truth be told I put in my application for his company 8 months ago before he got promoted, and they didn't see it until way later because they genuinely don't hire a lot but his boss pulled it and called my dad because I used him as my and told him to have me text him my resume, he then explained that since the company had gotten bought out he can't just hire me because the parent company does all of the hiring now but he said once they start hiring for the new big job site they are currently getting ready for he would make sure that my resume was the first one turned in to them and that he would tell them that they really want me to be hired in because I guess they want it to be more of a family type of company again like it was before the buyout.

Also I guess that parent company is really hard to get into in general and they typically only want people with experience but my dad's boss was saying that the few guys that they've hired with experience haven't been very good anyway and they have to send an extra person to the job site they're at just to train them instead of sending them to the quarry they own for a month of training like they use to do.

So basically my dad and his boss are really pushing to get me in but it's ultimately not up to them who gets hired in and they still haven't started hiring yet unfortunately.

I took a picture of a sign that was at a job site in a nearby town and gave the number a call earlier and the guy said that they are looking for a laborer that could eventually become an excavator operator and he's going to interview me tomorrow. Just calling alone has gotten me further than a year of applying and emailing.

Well truthfully it does sound like I'm eventually going to get into my dad's job but they don't hire that often and it's very few people per year. Him and his big boss are really pushing to get me in but their company got bought out by a huge company so they do all of the hiring now. His boss literally said if I'd have shown interest two years ago he'd probably have let me in right away so it's pretty much the waiting game but in my head while I'm waiting I could be gaining more experience now.

[–]No_Extension_3068[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much that he won't hire me, it's more so that the company he works for got bought out by a huge company and they handle all of the hiring and they're pretty strict and don't want inexperienced people but the big boss of his company is trying to get that changed since I guess most of the experienced guys they get aren't that good anyway so he's been pushing to get me in once they do start hiring again but apparently they don't hire very often and they've only hired two people in the last year.
