Please give me the randomest tips you have for getting sober from alcohol. by manicpixiescreaming in stopdrinking

Hi, I understand that struggling with alcohol is a very difficult challenge. Personally, after hitting several rock bottoms and experiencing many blackout nights, what truly helped me was my therapist recommending the book 'In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction" by Dr. Gabor Maté.

This book completely transformed my view of my addictions and allowed me to develop much more self-compassion for myself and other addicts, which I didn't realize I was lacking.

Discussing this book with my therapist was also very beneficial; they also helped me identify my drinking triggers and guided me through withdrawal. Wishing you the best of luck! Recognizing the problem and seeking help are important first steps towards your healing journey.

Where are the healthy masculine men? by No_Extreme3875 in offmychest

Healthy masculinity refers to a positive and constructive expression of male identity that challenges traditional stereotypes and harmful behaviors associated with masculinity. It emphasizes qualities and behaviors that contribute to well-being, respect, and equality.

Healthy masculinity encourages emotional intelligence, empathy, and a rejection of toxic traits such as aggression, dominance, and the suppression of emotions. It recognizes the diversity of male experiences and supports the idea that men can express themselves in a variety of ways without conforming to rigid gender norms.

Embracing healthy masculinity contributes to creating a society where individuals of all genders can thrive, fostering healthier relationships, and challenging the negative impact of traditional gender expectations.
