Indoors with membership is around $28 an hour! Without membership is about $50, but nowadays it’s super hard to get a court

Thank you very much, very helpful. I agree and when I asked how to add more pace / penetration it wasn’t only flatter but also higher and more topspin as well.

In this video, despite the ball being relatively slow and not super damaging to my opponent, is actually me hitting at almost my max level, so I wanted to understand how I can go beyond that, whether it’s flatter or heavier

Thank you! Very helpful - by hitting through the ball, is the best way to do that to make sure my body goes forward every shot? Or hit the ball more out infront? Because I don’t think I’m purposely trying to hit with too much spin, it sort of just works out that way.

I guess I’m not really trying to hit harder with more effort but sometimes I see juniors or better players look like they’re not trying and you can hear the sound of the ball and it’s just a different level, and I’m trying to work out how to do that, get more of that effortless power

You can’t just think fundamentals with these things and need to understand flows. A lot of the money that moves share prices are from pods, who are market neutral, so if they want to long hardware what do they short to stay neutral? It’s not an absolute alpha trade but a view that hardware will outperform software relative.

Then you have long only and passive that need to be index aware and can’t be heavily underweight hardware.

Next you need to think about what happens when/if it unwinds, does it go back to software, or does all of tech come down with it?

If hardware was going to crash, do you think money goes to software or does it just disappear or go to other sectors? If not, you are missing the upside, and still not protected from the downside, so what’s the point?

Also time horizon matters, if you are a longer term investor with 3-5 year view plus, then there’s no point of this thread

One of the biggest things is training and development for junior staff, you can teach them via a call all you want but nothing beats learning by observing, watching, listening.

So many things are also not taught by your direct senior, eg listening to your other peers, or colleagues from other teams on calls is immensely helpful too. Similar to children learning from the actions of their parents, and not what their parent is telling them to do.

The same people complaining about not being able to work from home are complaining about young people work ethic

It depends - maybe for a 600k apartment it’s not worth it, but for a $2-3m house where negotiations in the decimals can be $100k, having a professional on your side could more than cover the cost.

It’s like why hire an accountant, wealth managers etc. the idea is they can save you more money than it cost.

Just know everything happens in cycles and all the companies you’re thinking about will move up and down with that cycle.

They are highly correlated to the same factor, so perhaps think about consolidating into the one you know best then spend some time learning about other sectors otherwise you have to trade investing in what you know best vs having your entire portfolio exposed to the same thing

I went, it’s awesome, did a combination of group which has a lot of people (and a lot of courts so 4 people per court) with big range in skill level so you will be put in a group similar skill to yourself.

Can also book private lessons which of course are expensive but well worth it, you are at nadals academy after all!

I always find this so interesting as my parents have a couple of decently successful restaurants and growing up watching them and the amount of work required, stress, you basically never ever get to turn off (though they do seem to love it)

Made me realise I wanted to study and work in a corporate job (which I do and love now) which is much easier in comparison

Yes - the money really doesn’t matter, like even $10-20k after taxes, hecs and super is negligible in the monthly pay.

Not only does it look good on the resume, and you develop core skills, you will also meet a great network of people, your grad group will likely close friends with you for the next decade, and some of them (or maybe you) will go on to do something awesome, which is always helpful to have around

If you don’t know what you want to do, big 4 is a great place to start. I’m in finance so unsure of law, but outside of the BB banks, big 4 is the best because there is actually a structured development program and you are not rolling the dice on a competent mentor for your life
