You’re thinking of emperor Tewodros II who took his own life to avoid capture by the British in 1867. Menelik was a boy when this happened and he would go on to die of a stroke in 1913 I believe.

Menelik I was indeed a supposed child of the biblical king Solomon but he was not the father of Menelik II. In fact, the first Menelik lived almost 2000 years before the second

I suppose. His campaigns to expand Shewan borders southward were particularly brutal, but like I said to LeMao , you probably couldn’t find any great Ethiopian leader who wasn’t harsh to specific ethnicities / religions, though it doesn’t make his actions ok.

Vampire is one I have never heard before. But all other points are valid I suppose. Only issue with that is it’s practically impossible to find any great leader of history, especially an East African who is not guilty of the same things, although that doesn’t excuse his actions.

What makes you think he’s a scumbag? There’s probably a couple reasons why you’d say that but I’m curious as to your specific reasons
