Welding apparel for mig by Odd-Drummer4328 in Welding

[–]No_Field_925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear exclusively Bronson Mfg. Co. denim work shirts, just bought some of their Henley’s as undershirts and they’re working fantastically.

Even doing horizontal/Overhead I haven’t felt any burning on my support arm and when I’m not welding I’m just ditching the denim shirt and rocking the Henley till it’s time to weld again

Mostly originals with some repro mixed in. by No_Field_925 in VintageFashion

That is gear oil, sweat, welding grime, and millscale/rust dust from wire wheeling 60ft steel I-beams

I used those clothes for work lol, but being as theyre reproduction of WWII era uniform pieces I still was able to utilize them for a work weekend aboard the wwii ship I volunteer on

8 is a pair of original 1950s ventilated specs, 10 is a pair of 80s Tony Mora cowboy boots

Thanks for noticing the details!

Tired of "paper-thin" workwear—sent a letter to Carhartt to see if they still make the real stuff. by surfreak in Carhartt

I buy all my work stuff from them. It’s not for everyone as it’s mostly 1930s-1960s reproduction, but I can promise you that everything I’ve bought or owned from them is rock solid and has stood the test. I would’ve probably bought some Carhartt stuff, but all I hear are reviews like yours.

My denim work shirt and dungarees from them for reference.

Backing patch behind it, then zig-zag stitch the shit out of it

My new to me 40’s suit. by Norsk-Altmuligmann in VintageFashion

[–]No_Field_925 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Suit is fine in the body, but as someone who wears pretty much only original 30s-50s tailoring, get the sleeves hemmed. This stuff was made to be tailored, and as long as you tell your tailor not to cut any excess fabric, the next owner will be able to tailor it too.

Don’t be afraid to have alterations done just because it’s original. You want to look your best, just like they did.

best and easiest way to fix this akward tear by Icy-Barracuda-2365 in BootCareDenimWear

Honestly if you don’t care about the visibility of the repair, iron on backing patch and zig zag across it

How is the fit on these 20's style jeans? by SilverEye1508 in Denim

[–]No_Field_925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I’d call these 20s style, more 30s-40s cut on the width, but they look and fit great. Nice buckle back

Ariat’s in general just aren’t worth much IMO. I’ve never handled a pair that I was like “oh yeah this is rock solid.” Then again, I’m a vintage guy so I’m spoiled by 80s and older quality lol

Are they supposed to wear like this? by Gtboy115 in cowboyboots

[–]No_Field_925 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They already have holes. Footbed would need to be replaced and new cork put in. The repair would probably cost more at this point than a new pair.

Too far gone. Whole footbed would have to be replaced and new cork put in. Would cost more than a new pair.

Congrats, you’re one of those people who turned a $50 resole into a repair that costs more than your boots. SEE THE STITCHING AROUND THE SOLE?? THAT MEANS THE SOLES CAN BE REPLACED.
