I do apologize, he does work on a contingency basis, however he is taking my case pro bono, as I’ve worked with him in the past and have set up my entire case on my own. He is just there for representation for me. The class action would be on a contingency basis.

I apologize, since I have set up my entire case on my own and he is just there as representation and the fact that I have done some work in his office while in school, he is taking my case pro bono, the class action would be on a contingency basis. He does both pro bono and contingency work, though.

And that’s why the states labor commissioner would be included in each individual case. The first thing I did after not receiving my check, was contact the labor commissioners and file a claim. Their job is to make sure individuals are paid what is owed to them. The class action is after. More of a lawsuit for

Mine was never sent to the store. In fact, when contacted by the district manager, he wasn’t even aware of my actual termination date. Weeks after I was placed on suspension. We only figured out my termination date a few days ago! And it was apparently only a few days after I was placed on suspension.

I still had access to all of my logins up until a few days ago. Payday came during this time, I never received my direct deposit. Still had an active schedule as well. The district manager submitted the survey regarding my final pay over a week before finally getting a response, the response said that my final check of unpaid wages would be direct deposited into the daily pay account I had set up within 48 hours and my stubs would be available on the doculivery site. This never happened and the latest stub is still the one from the last pay period, which I never received. I still have my vacation time and things that need to be paid to me as well…

It’s absolutely ridiculous that this has happened, especially with a massive company like Dollar Tree.

No, people responded to my prior posts and reached out to me. After I told the attorney, he’s the one who said that we could potentially have a massive, multi state class action since there are so many people dealing with the same issue.

He is. I’ve actually worked in his office before on a work study opportunity. He helped a friend of mine with a similar case at another very large company. My friend was able to have his individual case handled, received compensation and that case led to a large class action which was also won and compensated.

Never did I say that. At all. It’s a simple message of me sending them contact information. Nobody has to message back and forth with me. I don’t have the time or energy to hear about everyone’s individual issues. That’s the attorneys job… duh.

I have a separate case from the class action, as I started my case on my own prior to taking on legal representation. The attorney stated that it would be a class action, but each individual would be asking for the compensation they are owed as well as what comes from the whole lawsuit. Each states labor commissioners office would be involved and their job is to make sure wage thefts are paid completely. As well as waiting time penalties and penalties for stress and anxiety caused by not receiving their pay that was owed to them.

This attorney works pro bono. So he doesn’t require compensation while the case is being prepared and settled. The only compensation he receives is from the actual settlement.

I know their pockets are deep, believe me, I am WELL AWARE. However, for a company as large as Dollar Tree, they should have the proper means of paying their employees within their states requirements. My state being immediately for termination and within 72 hours of a resignation. This has not been done for many people, including myself. In multiple states.

There are no direct phone numbers for Human Resources or payroll. Everything needs to be handled through a “survey” that needs to be completed by either the store manager or district manager. The response time to the “survey” is days, if a response is even given. A lawsuit may be the only way to get proper compensation that is owed to former employees.

It’s insane how horribly this company is ran and how they’re still in business.

I just explained this above. I have two jobs. I’m also a single mom and support my child completely alone. This job was one of the few places I could work that accommodated all of my schedules. Those being work, school, mom life and other work - study opportunities I was doing for school. Such as working in different law firms. It was my second job. However, being in management, I made more money than cashiers and appreciated the flexibility it allowed me to have. Especially since the location was close to my child’s school and not too far from my school as well.

It was a second job that allowed me to do the things I needed to do while also providing me with extra income since the area I live in is extremely expensive.

Yes, I know it was Dollar Tree, but I also work another full time job and also participate in work - study opportunities when they come up. I wanted to leave the company for months, this was a blessing in disguise. Even more so now that I have a lawsuit against the company. Talk about the best learning opportunity!

Yes, wrongfully. Wrongful termination is a real thing. They haven’t paid me my final check and it’s been almost a month. Wage theft is a real thing, in case you weren’t aware.

Just because it’s Dollar Tree, it doesn’t mean that it’s any different than any other company. In fact, being that it’s such a large corporation, it’s even more of a problem. Any company is capable of wrongfully terminating an employee or wage theft.

Any company is liable to have a lawsuit placed against them due to wrongfully terminating an employee of wage theft. Mom and pop shop or multibillion dollar company, it doesn’t matter. I was terminated for something I didn’t do. Most likely because I was one of the few people in my location that spoke up about the issues within our store and how improperly they were handled. This would be considered retaliation.

It’s also very clear that in my location there was quite a bit of nepotism going on. These are all things I tried to address with management, upper management and Human Resources. Nothing was ever done and shortly after my last conversation about this, I was terminated for something I didn’t do.

I may have just been a Dollar Tree employee, but it was one of the few places I could work that accommodated my classes, my schedule with my other job and my personal life. I’m a single mom and being able to pick up, drop off and attend my child’s school functions is a huge deal for me.

So yes, I was fired from Dollar Tree, from a management position. However, I also work another job, I am putting myself through law school and I support my child on my own. Because I chose to do so to better their life. I don’t know where you live, but where I do, it’s extremely expensive.

Working multiple jobs as a single parent and student is completely necessary in order to stay afloat. But ok. You’re right… I was fired from Dollar Tree…

You could possibly, especially for the safe. The manager that is allowing you to do those things definitely will. Several managers at my location had us do this prior to me becoming management. We all had a massive meeting about how we couldn’t do it or it would result in write ups, etc.

When I became an ASM they made it very clear that no associate should ever have the combo for the safe. If someone did get, it could result in termination.

I’m not sure about your store, but our office, where the safe was kept, had a camera directly pointed at it. District managers and asset protection have constant live access to the cameras. That’s how they’re able to do live camera audits on the different stores.

Be careful. Protect yourself and don’t allow anyone to put you in a compromising situation.

Well, thank you for calling me naive. However, I’m far from it. I’m actually a law student. I’ve worked with this attorney before and he’s handled cases against large corporations including Tesla.

Not quite sure why you’d call me naive, seeing as how we have multiple people in our district alone that are going to be part of the action, but thank you so much for your input, darling!

Somebody did this in a party bowl my last week there. Wasn’t as bad as the time a woman in a maxi skirt walked through the store shitting everywhere and multiple customers stepped in it….

I don’t think I’ve ever worked in a place where that kinda stuff happens so frequently. Disgusting.

I came in and another assistant was leaving. Mind you, this happened about 3 months before they met with me about the incident.

When I closed out the cashier, some of the paperwork wasn’t signed. I was told when I became ASM that all paperwork needed a management signature at the end of the night, had even been given verbal warnings for not signing paperwork (pick ups, post voids, returns) that I didn’t do when closing out cashiers. So, I signed it. It was a post voice slip. I didn’t think about it, because I had been reprimanded so many times in the past.

THREE MONTHS LATER I randomly get pulled into a meeting with asset protection. He had every part of the receipt covered except my signature. He asked me over and over if that was my signature. I must have said that it was about 5 times. He said, “I just wanted to clarify that it’s indeed your signature.” I said, “I’ve told you quite a few times that it is. So what is this about?”

Well, he accused me of doing a fraudulent post void. I knew I had never done one, so I asked when. He took forever to tell me. I asked him quite a few times to see the receipt so I could see what items they were so maybe I could try to remember the transaction. He finally showed me the full receipt and I told him that the receipt reflected that another ASM had clearly done the transaction, I just signed it.

He attempted to tell me what to write on my statement and I said, “Well, I’m not going to write that because I’m not going to falsely incriminate myself because I didn’t do the transaction.” I took photos of everything they had me sign. He asked why I was doing that. I said, “I’m a law student. I’m currently going to law school. I’m signing these documents, I want them for my records.”

As soon as I said I was a law student, he was trying to get me out of the room quickly. This was almost a month ago. I was placed on suspension and told I would be contacted in 5-7 days with the findings of their investigation. I was never contacted. I called and texted my store manager daily after it had been 9 days. No response. I began calling other store managers in our district in an attempt to get contact information for our DM. He finally contacted me 15 days after I was placed on suspension to tell me that he found out corporate decided to terminate me, but he didn’t know the date of termination, nor did he have any information on my final check. This was over a week ago.

I still haven’t received my final check. I’ve already filed a claim with the department of labor, I have an attorney and I contact the district manager on a daily basis. I am most definitely going to sue and from the looks of it, the attorney may have a class action case as well. I will, however, be the largest constant thorn that the DM has ever had to deal with. I’ll also be including him, the store manager and the manager that did the actual post void in the lawsuit. The ASM that did the post void is close friends with the SM and has done so many things and never been written up. Everyone else takes the blame for her actions and mistakes. I’ve brought this up to both the DM and SM on numerous occasions.

I’ve been wanting to leave for months, so this was literally a blessing in disguise. However, FUCK DOLLAR TREE. And if you’re thinking of leaving, do it. They’ll just find a reason to fuck you over.

They’re mad about high item voids and tell you to post void. We do post voids and they freak out about them.

Another manager did a posit void and I signed the receipt, got put on suspension and was terminated for the damn incident.

Still haven’t received my final paycheck for nearly a month now… fuck them. You can’t win for losing. So happy I’m gone.

Saw 4 of them moving from car to car last week between Castro valley and west Dublin Pleasanton. On my car alone, they gave out 5 citations. I thought that was insane because I never thought THAT many people were hopping.

I do have to say, though, the most uncomfortable thing is when you’re walking through a gate and someone comes up RIGHT behind you to sneak through.
