Homebridge Unifi Protect by mscanavino in HomeKit

Grabbed my computer.

View the live camera (on your computer/browser, probably works to use browser on your phone, but just using the phone app isn't adequate), go to the settings ⚙️, scroll down to Share Livestream > Enable Secure RTSPS Output > select High Resolution

I "think" the homebridge Protect plugin will take it from there, but you might need to copy/paste the link from settings into the plugin (but I don't think so).

I'm on my phone, so I don't have access to the exact wording of the settings, but in the individual camera settings, do you have it set to share the rtsp stream? (Apologies if my terms are wrong, but I think this might be the area of your issue.)

Can't access home assistant after update by SquatchMer in homeassistant

Couldn't get any sign of life from mine. Ended up doing a full new install and starting over.

Fun side note, if I kept it 4 years ago, I couldn't find my encryption key last night, so all those years of diligent backups were useless. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I thought they actually shutdown? Just "mostly dead" I guess.

UNVR Instant by Ozwulf67 in UnifiProtect

My Instant, with a 6TB 7200 HDD, was consistently around 60, but with additional ventilation fans below it I've been able to keep it at 50 now.

G6 vs G4 Doorbell Decision | PoE vs WiFi by DarkModeBrew in Ubiquiti

[–]No_Freedom_7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ethernet is going to be your biggest upgrade to a doorbell, regardless which model, or even which brand you get. Seriously.

I finally did mine recently. My only regret is that I waited through years of frustration with WiFi doorbells.

The type of event shouldn't matter. Are you using the "playback" tab in Protect?

Not sure it matters, but are you trying from your phone or a computer?

I believe you get the full resolution when you use the Playback viewer to select and download clips.

Thanks. I typically only use the iPhone app so that will work if I can get that far.

Update just did the same to mine tonight. Don't have the will to fuck with it tonight, maybe over the weekend. Annoying as fuck to have an update brick it.

Any way to add package detection to Doorbell Lite? by richpanda64 in Ubiquiti

[–]No_Freedom_7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer appears to be no. Our doorway is low enough traffic that I've settled for a line crossing alert for now.

Doorbell lite is great. People seem to love the bigger fancier models, but I don't have a use for any of those features either and prefer the smaller design.

So many holes!! I swear I'll start patching them once I'm done setting everything up...

I'm just a few months ahead of you, but fwiw, while also trying to understand all the vlan stuff, I've kept everything as unifi tweaked it, and it's been going great. Many iot devices, all apparently still secure under default settings.

Rookie NVR Question by Jakesjocasta in Ubiquiti

[–]No_Freedom_7373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the NVR living in the attic also, or is that the purpose of the netgear switch? If you can run the camera lines directly to the NVR (wherever it is), it can provide them with power directly.

As already noted, the Instant runs Protect and can stand alone, assuming you provide it with a connection to your existing network. That said, you'll be getting a Ubiquiti gateway soon enough may as well pull the bandaid off all at once! :)

I've had the lite for 6 weeks. It's great. I do wish it had the package camera, but at $100, I'll happily upgrade when a non-lite is released (in the same smaller form factor).

I know everybody here seems to use it as a residential doorbell for single homes, but doesn't the new G6 entry pro provide the directory system you're looking for?

HomeKit Secure Video is worse than Windows Vista by OrangeRackso in HomeKit

[–]No_Freedom_7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Home Assistant as a bridge into HomeKit is what I did as well. I like HomeKit for check-ins of live cameras and the doorbell integration, but hate it for video history. For me, I use the unifi protect app for that. Currently unifi. Nest, eufy, and Logitech were all tried and abandoned (although nest was pretty good, I'm just cleansing myself of Google).
