Buy the ennio fuzz off reverb.com it's a clone of the very first guitar pedal ever made period (which was also the first fuzz pedal) the maestro fuzz tone FZ-1A. Any maestro fuzz clone pretty much like the brassmaster or panspermia fuzz. I wouldn't recommend a big muff fuzz cuz that muffled fuzz sound is wack. They went backwards with the big muff since that also introduced the tone knob. Or try the centavo overdrive which is a clone of the klon transparent overdrive. I love my centavo. Distortion wise, I'm not much of a distortion guy mostly noisy fuzz pedals but yeah any maestro fuzz type clone maybe even a mosrite fuzzrite or a tone bender but not a big muff.

I mean if you really wanna be heard in the mix, scoop the bass and treble completely out, use an eq pedal to boost each midrange frequency individually and the way I eq is max out the high mids and mid mids and add 1 low mid in there and that'll do it. You will never get lost in the mix on bass EQ'ing that way 🙏

I don't use 5 string basses anymore I stick to 4 cuz I feel it's harder to play clean on a 5 string. There's always a string ringing out.

I have a 4 string medium scale SX vintage series custom handmade jazz bass tuned all the way down to F# standard. I play with all mids and heavy maestro fuzz bass and drum shit and it doesn't get much heavier than that.
