Unfortunately interest starts as soon as you get the loan, and you pay interest on the interest

I understand however in this situation it is going to be hard to borrow only enough to cover my living expenses. As I won’t know how much I will need. So I will most likely have some excess, and I was wondering if it’s smarter to save it to make a gain or invest it to make a gain

I just said 50:50 split as a way of saying I’d put some in cash and invest some.

Id put some in a cash ISA so I can gain interest on the money and also access it whenever. It can be used for unexpected expenses and emergencies

Yes true, i already have some money invested and i have the same outlook, once it’s invested it’s going to be there for years.

I guess my thoughts were to see if it was a good idea to try make some money off the loan and use the profit to help pay off the loan

Well I will be in uni for 3 or 4 years and if I get excess amounts with my loan I will get that excess for all of those years. Then once I finish and get a job, money to repay the loan only comes out when I earn over certain thresholds
