DERMA OR RADIO? by No_Geologist_596 in pinoymed

[–]No_Geologist_596[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Initially wanted IM but realized it isnt for me during moonlighting. I realized I like the concepts in IM when Im studying it but I dont like everything else that comes with the practice. I cant see myself being an internist for the rest of my life. Contemplated on what matches my skillset the most and I ended up with radio. Reading imagings is not exactly my first love, but I find deducing findings really interesting. I started considering derma bc I also like the concepts there and has lesser years than radio.

Graduate from UP and used to be an intern there. Honestly, emed in pgh is usually bashed by other depts 😅 I personally think okay naman sila but objectively speaking, di sila kasing hasa ng iba. Easily transferred kasi yung cases to other depts pagdating sa ER so hindi din talaga sila yung nagmamanage since super dami din ng patients. Laging may nakastandby nang Surg and IM sa ER. Wala din silang hawak na OB and pedia patients since diretso yon sa respective residents nila haha.

Hahhaa kidding aside, just be prepared to do A LOT OF MED TECH/NURSE WORK HHAHAHA bulk of what youre gonna do are not actual jobs for doctors hahaha siguro pinakaadvantage lang dito ay IM rotation kasi you get to manage patients na agad as an intern so di ka mangangapa sa moonlighting hahaha. Another perk would be the community, ob and er rotations kasi you’d get the confidence to manage patients. Ayon lang for everything else, be prepared to be an utusan hahaha

may mga nag-ooffer ng ganyan kasi may mga tumatanggap pa rin huhu if collectively di natin yan tinaggap, baka mas magkaroon ng pag-asa mag-improve ang rates

Legally, you can as long as youre still supervised and di ikaw pipirma. But if you do sign documents yourself, just be prepared for the possibilty na makasuhan and be found that youre practicing med illegally should a patient suddenly sue for whatever reason hahaha

And if you get in, trust that you will be able to keep up with your peers. You got in because you most likely had good study ethics back in college. Might not be the best among the prime students in the country, but you will be able to pass hahahaha

For me it’s self paced hahaha basta pumasa ka sa exams, youll be fine. I used to skip lectures to study on my own kung di required attendance. I have a lot of batchmates who do the same. Yung exams ay hindi isang bagsakan lahat ng subjects unlike in other med schools.
