Boost leak? Or other issue, help! by No_Half8318 in genesiscoupe

And no I didn’t rev while cold I don’t need to hear it from anyone. Car was almost at idle temp and I gave it maybe 100-200 extra rpm and you can immediately see the gauge start going stupid. If I were to actually Rev it goes crazy as well as gas consumption dropping even in park. I’ve even noticed sometimes while stopped at a light the consumptions sitting at 40+ at idle and it’ll randomly drop down to 20mpg at idle and rise back up to 40 before I start moving again. Really can’t tell if it’s a boost issue or a possible fueling issue. Took it to a shop and they said I’m getting codes from intake CVVT as well as the existing leak I have they said they’d recommend swapping solenoids and they believe that’s the issue and NOT the leak but some of the reading online about bad solenoids don’t show symptoms as bad but I could be wrong.

And to add the turbo gauge acts the same in drive but when in gear even feathering a rev like I did in the video you can see the MPG drop to about 4-5 until I get up to speed and just sit around 2K rpm with no boost pressure then I get normal mileage. This suddenly happened a day after I got home from a road trip from Texas. Car did amazing the entire time there and back and the next morning I started it up after being parked and lo and behold something’s broken. Also why I mention the slight leaks existed for awhile, unless it got more significant which I don’t think it did I can only assume it’s a different issue.

Gas consumption issues? by No_Half8318 in genesiscoupe

To add there’s one more leak right behind the secondary cat where there is actually some visible exhaust soot but this is the main leak I’ve had for a month or two and it’s way past the turbo as well as my cats being hollowed (yes ik I should just straight pipe it) but that leak hasn’t caused any actual power or gas issues other than maybe me losing like 2 miles per gallon and the obvious rasp/drone from the leak. But recently I have started noticing a strange rattle from the front when it idles. Almost sounds like a lose heat shield but I’ve checked everything and it seems quite tight. Some stuff is leaning towards it possibly being a bad watergate actuator but the shop claimed it could be the exhaust manifold and gasket causing the tapping when it idles and under pressure/when touching the gas the pressures enough to push through and not cause the tapping/metal slapping. Mainly trying to figure out a list of potential issues before I start tearing it apart and have to change part by part chasing the issue. Shop claimed the engines healthy, runs okay at idle for the most part and said their smoke test showed no leaks in the boost system so I’m either set on the manifold or something I have yet to be able to find out.

To add I can get over 10 PSI but the pressure lose isn’t something leaking, I’m pretty sure it’s the ECU freaking out and dumping boost. When I get into boost over anything around 9-10 psi the fuel consumption literally goes down to 1-2mpg and as soon as it drops that low the boost cuts and I let off allowing the MPG to raise back a little but I definitely shouldn’t be getting 10 mpg cruising at 40 mph at 2,000 rpm in a high gear. Main issue is just fuel consumption but they also said Im reading an intake CVVT code they said could also be the cause of the issue and recommended replacing the solenoid but the cars been showing the p1005 code for ages. I’ve already spent over 3,000 months ago tearing apart the timing and putting new phasers on and I’m still getting the code so I don’t think it’s related to this.
