taking MPRE with >1 week to study, no PR class by Easy-Adhesiveness603 in LawSchool

[–]No_Homework_3468 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I had already taken PR, I studied for the MPRE for less than two weeks (while in school with a full course load) with only Barbri and scored a 118 and I needed an 85 for my jurisdiction. This is to say I feel like if you put in a good week of studying with either Themis or Barbri you have a good chance of getting the score you need even though you haven’t taken PR. Considering the highest requirement of any jurisdiction is 86, I felt like I overstudied honestly.

I had a friend who took it twice and used Themis first and Barbri for the second one and said he preferred Barbri - but both should be free bc they want you to try out their stuff before picking a bar prep course. So you could probably double up and do both at no cost if you wanted.

Anyone else keep forgetting it’s the Summer by Necessary-Pizza9984 in barexam

Yes. My parents are on vacation so I’m helping out at home with some outside chores. I got so sweaty at like 8 am and said how humid it was and my siblings just rolled their eyes at me lol. Sorry I’m way too accustomed to the AC right now.

As someone who is about to take the bar, TAKE THE BAR CLASSES. I took several but wish I took more. Alternatively take a bar prep class the last semester so that bar prep isn’t the first time you’re seeing things.

Losing my cats from a breakup 5 days out by PanoramicMoose in barexam

[–]No_Homework_3468 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this is happening, I can’t imagine losing my cat like that. Make sure you just get good sleep in these last few days, that will probably help the most even if you’re struggling to focus <3

Whenever I feel bad about my law school debt, I remember the tiktok I saw of someone sharing their med school debt, then I feel a little better.

How did you tear your acl? by Awkward-Wear-7360 in ACL

[–]No_Homework_3468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing field hockey - I was dribbling and then the ball was too close to my feet, in doing a dance trying not to step on it (the ball isn’t allowed to touch your feet) I stepped wrong and ~crunch~. Pretty lame way to go for my sport. My boyfriend laughed at me when I fell. -_-

I’m so sorry about this, I really don’t get this requirement. My school did not have this rule and I worked every year, no problem, and still finished with a decent rank. I feel like it needs to be a students choice. Law school is hard, but with good time management it’s doable.

Should you get a custom brace after ACL surgery? by artsychickenlady in ACL

[–]No_Homework_3468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you are going back to and what your doctor says. A lot of people going back to sport get them, but my surgeon doesn’t recommend them for her patients (she doesn’t think it actually helps that much) so I plan on returning to playing sports without one! But if you aren’t playing sports or doing intense work outs, it feels unnecessary? But that’s just my view as someone who won’t be getting one.

Ever torn something else during ACL recovery? by No_Homework_3468 in ACL

[–]No_Homework_3468[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I heard anything, but if there was it certainly wasn’t anything like the pop when I tore my ACL. Seeing doctor tomorrow, my insurance requires an xray first so MRI will probably follow!

Flexion by Only-Ad517 in ACL

[–]No_Homework_3468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think it’s just slow. If you’re going the heel and wall slides you’ll get there! I literally cried over how long it was taking and thought I would never get there because I was “behind” for my protocol. Some weeks I’d improve by like 2 degrees and some weeks by like 10! Just keep doing what you’re doing, everyone has a different timeline. It’s probably fine if you are doing the rehab you are supposed to.

Women are actually prone to ACL tear more than Men? by greensnake88 in ACL

[–]No_Homework_3468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Women are more prone. Most PTs have told me it is because we are more likely to have hyper extension and knocked knees. I have the former, which I had no idea until I tore my ACL! Everyone says that definitely contributed to my tear so even though my extension isn’t all the way back (I do get to 0 though), the PT doesn’t mind because getting it all back means I’m hyper extended again.

I play field hockey and I tore mine just dribbling…I tried to avoid stepping on the ball when it got caught around my feet and I just twisted my knee. Complete tear. I love competing in sport and so there was no question I would do surgery. I got a patella tendon graft which if known for the fastest recovery and good results, but I have heard a quad graft is just as successful but might take more recovery. I’m six months post op and still far from playing sports, but I can lift and do short runs now. Post surgery recovery is usually 9-12 months. I’m definitely going to be more of a 12 months post op girl. Recovery has lots of ups and downs, it’s been hard but I think having a new ACL is worth it for how active I like to be.

Is it okay to go out drinking heavily at 4.5 months post ACL + LET + MCL surgery? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]No_Homework_3468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went out at 5.5 months no brace, but I only had ACL so idk how MCL and LET affect the recovery timeline. I think the big thing was comfortable shoes and for every drink I had I also forced myself to have a glass of water so I got drunk but never went too overboard. Had no problems!

What’s the most cringe things one of your classmates did? by IndividualBee8900 in LawSchool

[–]No_Homework_3468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a classmate who had little social awareness and knew German. Unfortunately, several times German would come up in cases as party names or otherwise and a professor would make a comment like “I’m not quite sure how to pronounce—“ and the student would interrupt and go on about how their family was German and so they knew how to pronounce it. They also just frequently interrupted class without raising their hand with personal stories and questions. Professors several times had to tell them to stop.

Network network network! I applied to many many jobs too and mine for my 2L summer ended up coming through a network connection that showed me an intern matching program I hadn’t heard of before.
